Waits till the last minute to grade assignments. Two months of assignments came and went before we got (1) grade back. Feedback is vague--don't expect to get a perfect score on anything. She's a very nice person and means well, just a bit scattered.

Her assignments and rubric are longer than the actual assignment, and feedback is vague and unclear. I couldn't get a perfect score on anything, even after I met in her office hours for clarification on how to do so. The final project was 20% of my grade, and so, given her unpredictable grading, it was the most stressful.

Jocelyn is awesome. She's a real hippie at heart and strives her best to make her class as creative an environment as possible. Book use was very low, most of the class focus time was on the actual writing process, which some CRW teachers seem to have forgotten all about. Take her- you won't regret it.

Yes, she's somewhat incomprehensible...lol but when you can actually understand her, you realize that she's brilliant. You have to be motivated to LEARN, and to write. Take her writing advice, it got me published!

This class is fun. You don't use the text very much and the novel she has us read is really interesting and easy to read. I always dread having class, but that's b/c most of it is online and so it seems pointless to attend, but I never regret attending. She's a great charismatic person and willing to go to great lengths to help your writing

Jocelyn is available for office hours or e-mail almost anytime. She's not always clear, but if you do your work, attend class, and read you're good. This was "A History of Prose." You'll want to keep the books after you take her. She's super smart, having gone to Iowa Workshop, not a joke. All of the assignments came together at the end. Good times

No, she is not that organized, but she is very understanding and will compensate for her somewhat scattered brain. You have to be proactive. Overall, she is a great creative writing professor. Probably the most interesting and entertaining I've had thus far. Her input on my work was VERY helpful. Definitely learned a lot!!!

Most unorganized professor at UCF. Great if you enjoy lectures on punctuation and her life story. You won't learn anything; you might actually lose brain cells if you take her class. Mostly, she is unclear and you will never have any idea what is going on. I even changed my major because of her.

she's the best prof. i've ever had. she allows you to explore your own creative freedom, rather than exploring what she thinks your creativity should be about. i hate those professors. she is a little scattered, but that adds to her charming style. who wants an organized writer anyway? jocelyn rocks

Strange person, goofy. Was late a lot to class this semester. Overall organization was a bit lacking, but the natural content of the class is what saved it. Many professors could have done her lesson plans better than she did. Not the worst prof, but if you have a choice, try your luck elsewhere

I've taken Jocelyn for three classes now, and she is one of the two best creative writing professors at UCF. I'm graduating this sem. with a Creative Writing degree, so I've had most of them. She is professional, style-tolerant, and award-winning. If she's too hard for you, pick a different degree

She is the best teacher I have had at UCF. She challenges the students to push their writing to the next level. She focuses her teaching upon craft and story development. I think that she is the best teacher the English dept has to offer.

Her class was fun, a little laid back. The only thing I noticed was that she tended to dominate workshop discussions sometimes. It was hard to get a word in (and considering your grade is based on participation-that's important). Good professer overall
