Comment:
Very vague notes, tests are completely different from the textbook, and makes the subject harder than it is. It's a shame he's the only one who teaches corporate tax.

Advanced taxation was super difficult. The course was based off three exams, no homework or assignments. The exams were extremely difficult and more than likely impossible to finish. The class is doable since he curves a lot, but if you learn thru examples and going thru actual problems, Lauricella is a problem. His lectures are 95% verbal.

Tax is a tough subject and Prof. tries his best to break it down for you. He prepares handouts to help and they are great. Its exactly what is on the exam. Hes a wonderful man and great professor. Very intelligent and knows all about tax. Hes a very fair grader. I enjoyed this class very much and he made it so understandable and interesting.

Tests are ridiculously long and difficult even if you study hard. Literally about 5 pages long. There are no multiple choice either all calculations so most people use the full 2 hrs and 30 mins to finish. He uses literally every minute of class time and he is really hard to follow. Showing up is like pulling teeth--try a different prof

Literally the hardest class I ever took at MSU. In comparison, Markoff's Cost class was a piece of cake. The lectures are so boring, but I recommend that you attend them. I never read any assigned chapters, but only paid attention in class and went over the homeworks and outlines. 3 exams but drops the worst grade and curves a lot.

Comment:
One of the hardest professors at MSU. Probably second to markoff but he does curve a lot. He talks soft so sit close to him. Also, go over the homework and his outlines over and over again for exams. Be prepared to spend at least 15 hrs of studying for an exam to even get a B. If you get at least one B then you should pass with a B in his course.

Recent graduate and I came back to tell my fellow accounting majors that Prof. Lauricella's corp tax was the most important class I took at MSU. As a tax accountant, I actually use what I learned in his class at work every day. You may cry how hard his class is now, but once you actually go out there, you'd wish you had paid more attention in class

Definitely the most Challenging professor & class i have had in the 4 years of being here. If you have the option to take another professor TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR! Do not take Lauricella unless you want to cry after each test result. Hes such a sweet old guy but he thinks all his students just have his class to go to and study for. Its impossible

Great porfessor. The best I ever have until now. He is willing to help everyone. Answer, clear any question you ask in class, literally any question related to the subject. Very supportive of every student. Very knoledgeble of the subject. Like any work, you got to spend time and you will study well.

Extremely knowledgeable and informative. However, taxation is a difficult subject and there is no easy way out of it. Exams are not easy, but he does curve, so hang in there and you'll come out alright. Definitely one of the hardest classes in accounting major.

He is very smart and likes if you ask him questions. Reads directly off the book though. Do the HW as he does use variations of them on exams, but know the concepts cold as no reference sheets are allowed except for tax tables and some phaseout thresholds given in the exam Qs. Will need at least 3 hrs/wk for HW.

Without question the hardest course I have ever taken. Exams are crazy - all short answer and calculations, and you will need every minute of class time to complete (if you can complete it). I feel sorry for those of you in the ACCT major who must take him. Prepare to spend 8-10 a week on his class if you want to pass.

VERY HARD CLASS, but very informative as well. Doing and actually understanding the homework will help a lot. He gives a review sheet before exams and there are extra credit opportunities. Even if you don't do well in the class, you'll definitely learn something. He prepares you for the CPA

His class was extremely hard, tests are indeed the hardest tests if ever had in my accounting profession so far. He just reads from the textbook and hardly writes on the board. He's a nice guy but is way to hard to be a introduction to tax class.

EXTREMELY hard exams that take 3 hours to complete. He doesnt realize that hes been doing this for 30 yrs and we're learning it in one semester and expects you to memorize & learn everything about tax which is impossible.I have a 3.8GPA which is going to severely drop. He has no mercy when assigning work and creating exams.Must dedicate 5 hrs a wk!

Very knowledgable professor, but a LOT of work. Homework that takes hours and hours each week that he collects even though it is a graduate course. Avoid at all costs if you cannot set aside a minimum of 3-4 hours a week just for homework.

Slackers beware!! Nice guy, but tough. You must study on your own at least 3-6hrs a week. Bottom line only take hime if you must.
