I actually like Dr Kanury, he is a really smart guy and funny too. That being said, taking his class was the most demoralizing experience, ever. Its one of those classes where the class average is like a 35%, you pray everyone else did just as terrible so you make it in the final curve. I have never been so happy about a C+ in my entire life.

He really does know a freaking lot of stuff. Let him know if you want to learn any thermo though. He'd really much rather talk about more important things like world peace and the apocalypse. Really try not to have him. He's a pretty cool guy and I like listening, but I haven't learned anything all term.

Without any doubt, Murty Kanury is the worst teacher I have had in my academic career. Hostile, volatile, and openly expresses little interest in his students' learning. I recommend dropping his class before you start, otherwise you will spend a term's tuition without learning anything about thermodynamics.

This guy is a total creep. I am not sure if he is human. I make decent grades usually, but I got a 33 on the first midterm. Determined to stay in, I worked hard, still did bad and dropped. He is disrespectful to students. And assigns grades based on who you are. If you are an NE, dont tell him, he hates us. Since there is no choice, good luck!

Once I figured out how to listen and notate his lectures, I learned a LOT about thermo- and physics, and meteorology, etc...this man knows a lot about everything. Be prepared to study your ass off and know thermo apps backwards and forwards to pass tests. They are HARD. I have never worked so hard for a B+ in my life. I really like him though!

Wait until he retires to take thermo 2. Taking it from him, I feel like I know less now than when I came into the class. "Don't wash your face backwards, that's the way muslims do." -Kanury. Really nice guy. Can be alot of fun if he gets fired up. He wasn't especially helpful in lecture and I tanked the first midterm. If 6% is considered tanking. I liked him in ENGR 312 though. Multiple choice thermo tests suck

His existence is to teach. He likes to engage you on a level besides that of a student-teacher relationship. You may leave his classes feeling downtrodden and like you learned nothing but when you approach a problem you will realize it is exactly the opposite.
