Don't take this guy, he's super boring. Just because someone has the qualifications to teach does not mean they should. He also looks for a very specific way of writing. If you don't fit his model, then too bad, poor grade. Grading also seems to depend on his mood.

Not a bad guy, prepare yourself to write a lot so if your rusty brush up. He's really nice,but can come off as condescending at time. Some people need to realize that he takes his classes seriously,so you should too. Don't show up late cuz it looks bad on you. Overall his courses are doable

Prof Becker is a class act, highly witty, incredibly knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects, a cunning linguist, approachable and deeply humane. You can tell he's smoked a few doobies in his time too; he's like .. way chilled and stuff. And he's got a twinkle in his eye.

I read the ratings here expecting the best class ever. I was WRONG. Lectures are long and boring, There is a lot of reading and its very dense. Do not take this class if you are not very interested in ancient religious texts.

One of the most vapid teachers, not to mention slovenly dressed. Gets hung up on theological parlance and all its terminology, and then turns around and indoctrinates his own vocabulary. Ph.D or not, if you read woodenly from your notes each class, you have no place standing at the front teaching the material.

Becker is like the coolest prof ever. He is amazingly smart and knows so much about religon. And when he gets excited about a topic he starts play with his hair and his whole body begins to to shake. And i have to say that he is so sexy, especially when he wears vintage suits.
