Strongly recommend taking Vladim over this guy as his exams are extremely difficult and are nowhere near the difficulty of what is covered in class. Attending his lectures is a waste of time and you are 100% better off just studying his practice exams. He isn't a bad prof, but should teach more advanced finance courses instead of intro.

He's a really nice guy. However, I often had trouble understanding what he was saying because 1) he has a strong italian accent and 2) he speaks extremely fast. The exams did not really reflect what we had learned in class. The final was 40 multiple choice questions and I feel like I passed purely out of luck. I answered about 30 questions randomly

De Motta is a really smart and sympathetic guy but teaching is definitely not his thing. Going to class is not necessary at all, get the principles and do the practice problems, exams are really tough tho, manage to be up the curve !

De Motta's a funny guy, but you're probably better off just skipping class and doing the practice problems. Final is all multiple choice, you should be fine as long as you do the posted final review questions. Class average on the final was 54% before the curve and 64% after.

The professor is not the best educator, his lectures are uninspiring and useless. Hi is not helpful, examples done in class are not at all comparable to the difficulty of his exams, which is very misleading for studying. Exam grades are always curved by 5 to 10 marks, indicating the how difficult the exams are.

Great prof! I love how he takes a more practical approach rather than theory, he also briefly covers options which is good to know. His exams are very fair and if you can do all the practice problems you're guaranteed an above average grade -he also curves quite a bit. 5 assignments that are an easy 100%. lectures are good, he does have an accent

Unfortunately very cold and seemingly annoyed when you ask him questions. The class was quite simple, 2/3 questions on the final were the same as homework exercises and as the midterm.

He is a very good prof, his lectures are amazing. His only default is not to give that much help outside the classroom, espicially during his office hours. He is very smart and make all the materials simple to our eye. In conclusion, he is still a very good proof that I would took again with pleasure.

The best professor I've had at McGill. Extremely passionate about his field, his introductory finance course provides a solid understanding of all issues covered in more advanced clases.

I was actually quite interested in finance, but the professor just wasn't clear. You pretty much have to teach yourself everything. Take the course with vadim

Do all the practice problems given. He is very enthusiastic but is a horrible teacher, and you basically will have to teach yourself by doing all the practice questions. Could hardly understand his accent, and although he was very involved in his own lectures, none of the students were because the material is tough and he's hard to understand.
