I am on my fifth class with Dr. Hacker Daniels and she is absolutely phenomenal. She has high expectations, but you will walk away with perspective -- not just regurgitated information. I read on here that her lectures are chaotic, but I actually find them intriguing. As long as you maintain interest, you won't be lost. Favorite professor!!

If you take Freedom of Expression, sure she gets off topic and sure you need an ass load of books...however after taking one class with her you will totally rethink everything about our world & ur education! She is the greatest teacher ever! And she will go to bat for you if youever need her there for u.

As everyone else has already said, she gets off topic way too much, but the conversation is usually intriguing. She requires a ridiculous number of books for her class and you'll never get through half of them. I thought the class was chaotic.

She has been the best professor of my college career. Any problem I have had, whether it be in her class or another COM class, she has went above and beyond to help me out. She is brilliant, entertaining, and is not about to sugar coat anything.

Her lectures have no clarity or point, she dances around the subject until the last few minutes of class. She talked constantly about how disrespected the COM department was. Our last speech of the year didn't get graded until half way through the next semester, well after grades were submitted. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Prof. Daniels's class was a waste of my life. Her dictionary assignments were pointless. The class was a speech class but we only gave three speeches. Grading was almost entirely subjective, requirements were very unclear. She had a chip on her shoulder regarding her colleagues' view of the communications department, discussed it constantly.

This woman is crazy! But, that craziness is not necessarily a bad thing at all. She is open for any type of discussion in her classroom. You can say anything you want. The work was hard, and the dictionary projects were ridiculous, but learning the different kinds of speeches, and learning to speak in front of people was a good thing.

As an Illinois College Alum..I was a com major in college and highly enjoyed every class ever taken with Hacker. She expects a lot out of you, but trust me I use a lot of her knowledge that she has given me in the real world and as far as stacking on the work before finals really helps to prioritze. Great Professor!

Some of the posts are obviously by students who dont like this teacher much, however they are not totally untruthful. She looks into these sites way to much and then will take it out on the rest of the class who didnt have anything to do with the posts. Heres a hint Prof. Daniels, if you dont want these posts dont talk about them all the time.

The lady is just plain crazy. She uses alot of dictionary words just to sound smarter even though it is often not needed. she falls behind in what she is teaching because she rambles on about the nyt's all class. When she finally realizes whats going on she piles alot of work on at once. Over all the class is a waste of time.

Very bright, but highly unfocused when it comes to assignments and their perameters.
