She's a good teacher but a lot of times I had to write down what she said and look it up later when she was teaching because she hadn't taught us the meaning of the word or phrase yet. Goes a little fast so you definitely have to work for your grade

I dropped this class after six weeks; I was crying from the stress of it, since I was studying twice as hard in it than any of my other classes, and yet that was my lowest grade. She goes way too fast, and plays the politics of the AS department more than she listens to her students. Too hard, moves too fast, and once gave four quizzes in a week.

Akiko Sensei is definitely a prof that makes you work for the A, but she is always willing to help and stop to explain material. As long as you are willing to study hard and really try to look at the material you will get by just fine.

Started the semester with high hopes, had to drop halfway through. Disappointing; I was really into it, but the material jumped so high in difficulty that I had to choose between my mental health and the class; I chose not having panic attacks She's nice and tries, but I think she's forgotten what it's like to look at Japanese with fresh eyes.

She goes too fast and if you are not an auditory learner you won't learn a thing in this class. Repetition is more important than actually understanding the material . Don't have a lot of time outside of school due to family commitments or work? Too bad, you're on your own. Her overall teaching style and content is very outdated.

She definitely makes you work for the grade, but she does it for your own good. She really does care about her students. She makes the class as interesting as she can, offers extra study materials on Canvas, is always in her office, and always answers emails. Don't expect extra credit, and expect group dialogue projects. You have to be dedicated.

Akiko Sensei is a top teacher. She is head of the entire Asian studies program. Japanese in general is difficult to learn, but she breaks it down to where you can understand it. She's always willing to give extra help. If you try your best, you can do very well in the class but don't expect to skip work or study and get an A.

She teaches very difficult classes. She assumes you can understand her after she repeats material multiple times when she never really explains it. Homework every day, no exceptions. If you don't study Japanese for 1-2 hours a day, you will FAIL. I wanted to learn JAPN for anime but I never should have taken this class because of the difficulty.

Akiko is honestly my favorite teacher at BGSU. Don't come trying to learn Japanese just so you can watch anime, because you will drop out in a flash! She is honestly caring, but can be unclear at times. She is always in her office for you if you need extra help. Study everyday and do your homework, and Japanese will come more naturally. ã??ã??ã?°ã?£ã?¦ï¼?

Although a nice, helpful person, Akiko teaches VERY difficult classes. She assumes you can understand her after she repeats material multiple times when she never really explains it. Homework every day, no exceptions. It FEELS like if you don't study Japanese for 1-2 hours a day, you will fail. If you go to her office, she seems so much clearer.

Akiko is a great professor and really knows what she's doing. She's very willing to help you out, so don't be afraid to take advantage of that because Japanese is pretty difficult for a beginner. Just make sure you get on her good side and you shouldn't have any problems.

She goes way to fast. I mean I understand the information, but on tests she is all you have 5 minutes. Too fast for a 101 class.

Great teacher! Akiko is one of my favorite professors at Bowling Green. She's very motherly and will do anything to help you out. She always speaks her mind and the way she explains things can be a little off but that's what makes it fun. If you are not willing to invest the time and effort into this class don't take it though!

This is the 4th class that I have taken with Akiko. She openly discriminates in her grading and isn't very understanding if you miss class for ANY reason. She is a nice lady but will give you homework every night (including holidays). I would not recommend taking her class to anyone. It will leave you jaded.

The best teacher you will ever have, period. She genuinely cares for all of her students. She's not always the clearest she can be and some people find Japanese difficult, but she will always make time for you and help you if you're having trouble. She is completely dedicated to Japanese and the Asian Studies program.
