Dr. Al-Manaseer is a tremendously smart professor to have. In CE 162, he may seem to be intimidating at first, although if you can keep a positive attitude and cooperate with him, you'll be just fine. Ask questions, come to class for each meeting, go to his office hours if you can and be assertive. He is actually very caring of his students.

This class is TOUGH. You NEED to put time into the material on your own time. Tests are sometimes tricky. A LOT of hw and its also graded very harshly. His lectures are unorganized, as is he. But, he is very helpful in office hours. He is very passionate about the subject and it shows. Tips for success: find old exams and STUDY!!!!!!!!!!

He is a really knowledgeable man about material engineering, But that doesn't mean he can teach. Please when you take any class be aware that you are here to learn and you are paying for school.

Make certain you have a developed team going into this class - you'll need it on the lengthy group project that extends throughout the semester. Clear notes, participation in office hours, and being on his good side are key to getting a good grade in this course. Highly technical. Very much so a "learn it on your own time" type of course.

You really need to work for your grade. Make sure you take good notes, and take advantage of his office hours. Make sure you ask him to clarify anything, as his handwriting and his accent may be difficult to comprehend. Don't be intimidated by his demeanor. Expect witty answers, frustration, and a lot of laughter. Make sure you have a good lab team

My favorite professor at SJSU. He is very helpful and friendly. If you attend his class, you will understand the material and learn a lot. You should submit hw on time. Dr. Al manaseer is a very smart and straight professor.

This class requires alot of commitment. He can be very insulting, but don't take it personal. He is very knowledgeable and has a sense of humor. Attempt all homework and make sure your answers are correct. Exams may be challenging, but he usually gives generous good lab grades. Don't write restricted things in Codebook or you'll get embarrassed.

Don't fall behind in this class. Make sure you have a good group for your project. 15%HW,15%Exam1,20%Exam2,20%Project, and 30%Final. This is a very practical class. You learn how to design reinforced concrete members. He teaches you how to present properly and you need to be able to explain designs thoroughly. Don't take his criticism personally.

Dr. Al is definitely one of the greatest professors I have ever had. He knows the subject extremely well and his lectures are always very informative and clear. This class requires a lot of effort. however, Dr. Al is there every step of the way to provide clear instructions for his students. This class was definitely a life learning experience :)

Dr. Al teaches with tough love. People who are spoiled, have been coddled, or maybe very young seniors might think he is mean. However, they haven't had a good taste of reality yet. After Taking his class I was able to do well on an interview for a structural design position. I am now on my way to my PE, and I daily use principals from 162.

Dr. Al-Manaseer is a leader in the concrete industry, and knows it inside and out. He helps design building codes and has written a widely-used book on structural concrete that everyone has in my structural engineering office. This class is tough but you come away from it with a good understanding of structural concrete.

I've taken Dr. Al-Manaseer for CE 112 and CE 162. I originally enrolled in CE 162 during the Spring '10 semester when I learned that Dr. Al was on sabbatical. I dropped the class immediately to wait for his return. Dr. Al is the concrete guru of SJSU and I didn't want to take probably the most intense senior design project class with anyone else.

Took this class about a year ago and he was so horrible I had to comment. It's upsetting that such a professor is in charge of teaching such an important class. What's worst is that his textbook is FULL of mistakes. You're basically on your own in this class.
