Comment:
Dr. Holcomb operates inside a "utopian classroom" theory, that everything you ever need to teach effectively will always be at your disposal (i.e., money, etc.) and teaches from this perspective. I'm sorry, but it's just not like that out there in the real world. This guy has been stuck in college-academia land for too long.

I also took this class on accident, and it was the best mistake I could have made! I took him over 2 years ago, and I STILL think he is BY FAR the best I have had. I too love that his lectures are derived from experience, better than any textbook lecture. He is real and he has a true passion for his students. I would advise anyone to take him!

Knowing I have to take more classes with him makes me want to change my major. He is condescending to students, doesn't plan well for classes, and doesn't let students get involved. Advising is worse. Tells you to take classes and then asks why you took a class taht doesn't count toward your major

I took this course by accident, instead of a regular intro to Ed. I thought he was an amazing teacher. Much to offer and VERY experienced in his teachings. His lectures come from experience, and that was the best part of class!

He has so much to offer if you are serious about teaching music literacy. His approach is very sequential and I find that what I have learned from him works in any teaching circumstance. Dr. Holcomb is a prepared & dedicated instructor.

It always feels like he is scolding you. Makes you feel like you'll never be a good teacher. Rambles on and on. whenever someone else tries to talk he pretends like hes listening but just looks around the room, which is so rude. too busy to really help.

Class felt like it wasn't always planned. Have to do observations, but those are fun --good to take so if you find that you don't like kids, then can change major. Learned some methods of teaching.. speaks clearly.
