Overall I can't think of anything negative to say. If you do your readings and make sure to show up for some of the classes, you shouldn't have any problems passing. His lectures were interesting and he had a good sense of humor. Only wished he spread the focus of his classes a little more evenly through the subject material instead of his interest

Great prof and a really nice person. Really passionate about the material. Always willing to help, I met with him several times. Midterm is multiple choice and pretty easy. Term paper is fairly broad and easy to do well as long as you understand the assignment, although the paper is marked by a TA even though there isn't a tutorial. Easy final.

He is awesome! Prof. Reese clearly loves what he teaches and it shows in lecture. Although he likes to ramble on and wont make eye contact unless he has to, he still has a very clear explanation of what is going on! Always there for extra help too!

Incredibly nice prof! He was very open to questions and willing to help. He was very passionate about the material and the class was interesting. When I took this class it was his first time teaching it, so he was very unclear about our term paper. On the other hand, easiest final I've ever written.

Not a strong presenter. He does not look at the class which is pretty awkward. Some lectures are interesting and others are all over the place. The class wasn't very difficult if you attended class and did some of the readings. I would not recommend this class.

Great Prof! He's very laid back and makes class entertaining. He focuses alot on the history of the church. You must attend tutorials and don't miss class if you want to do well on exams -- basically everything comes from what he says in class. I barely read the text; only the sourcebook for tutorials and papers and came out with a awesome grade.

Very good lecturer, not very good if you ask for help and aren't a girl, not very easy to get a good mark, but still would recommend the class

I like him but it seems like a lot of people in this class just HATE the guy. Some of his lectures definitely are weak, but he has the occasional really good one too. He started keeping attendance regularly, I'm sure that'll turn a lot of people off. Tells you exactly what's on the final though. Nice guy, a little heavy on religion at times though.

He is very funny and enthusiastic. He tells some good stories. Sometimes his lectures are a bit unorganized, but he is clear enough. Take notes fast. Gives you a lot of interesting information that is not necessary for the final.

I really enjoyed taking his class. He tells a lot of funny stories and tells jokes but still really knows his stuff. He was going to be a monk so this area is generally focused on. He does not mark the essays but his final outline was exactly what was found on the final .

Currently my history prof of choice, he isn't afraid to digress and tell stories. Not a simple facts & charts type of guy. I really like this, it bothers a few though. Funny, fair, knowledgeable... sounds good to me.

Prof. Reese is an extremely knowledgable historian and an above average instructor. In terms of marking, he's fair enough, little on the tough side perhaps, but if you put a solid effort forth, you'll do well. Highly recommended!

I really liked him, although it's true that he rarely looks at the class, which makes getting your question answered pretty painful. He's funny, self-depricating, and has the perfect professor's booming voice. For the final, I hardly looked at my class notes, as I actually found the textbook to be pretty good. I reccomend taking a class from him.

A very energetic, funny, and caring professor whose lectures would benefit from better organization. My notes, while helpful, helped very little in preparing for the final, and the textbooks for this class were abysmal - I found another. They were written in the passive voice :P. Fun lectures, easy marking, but poorly organized.

Prof is hardly engaged with students. Marks, except the final, are done by tutorial leaders and questions or acknowledgment are not included in lectures. Unorganized lecctures that are not always chronological. He knows his stuff and is very interested in his field. Christian focus is a necessary part of the Medieval reality.

Great guy! I enjoyed every lecture thoroughly. He obviously cares about what he teaches and is extremely involved. The tutorial sessions were very useful and there is a lot of communication between him and the TA's so I feel that I got a very fair mark in the end. Essay writing is key and sometimes his quizzes can be tough. (Map questions!) Thanks!
