Took this class in the summer and things maybe different in other quarters, but all in all a very easy class. If you don't get an A in this class, its because you're lazy. Teacher constantly changes his mind and is disorganized. Its a good class to take for an elective with other difficult classes.

He's isn't every helpful, so make sure to ALWAYS read the syllabus! You'll have 5 presentations, 3 test (final is take-home) and have to read one book. The group work is fun if you have a good group, so choose your group wisely! He's super nice when you need help, take him if you're okay with an unorganized class!

Great teacher, he tells lots of stories about his past. 3 projects with a final letter where you tell him what grade you want & why you deserve it, no final. He tells you at the beginning, sit in the front row, make sure he knows your name, use the vocab you learn in class and you get an A. Great easy class to take with a more time consuming class.

Alan Yabui was a wonderful teacher. With him you will be unaware of your learning progress due to the unique teaching style of seminars, discussions, real-life examples, and group work. BE AWARE that he is a teacher who quietly sits back while expecting each individual to do the syllabus work without reminders. read the book! no HW other than that

Do not take this class. You buy 3 books and you're suppose to read one chapter out of every book. so it's a waste of money. You don't really learn anything. he is awesome. People said he is not teaching anything, and that is correct because you can not learn communication by reading a book. you need to communicate with people to learn it. I don't know why some people think that learning means just read read read and then take a exam.

He is one of the most interesting men I have met (was in three wars), but as a professor he is bad. Discussions are pointless, instruction is next to none, demanding, picky, and he forgets what he says about due dates. I recommend not taking this class unless you REALLY need the credit. Too much unnecessary stress.

This guy is nice, but his lectures are for the most part irrelevant. The assignments he dishes out are ill explained, to the point where you don't know what to do until a couple days before a project is due, and that's only after getting on his case again and again. He seems to think life revolves around going to UW.

He's a nice guy but he is terribly unclear when he gives instructions. Students are left to fend for themselves a lot of the time and are forced to talk to other students to even begin to form an idea of what he wants.

Pretty easy as most people have said. It's difficult to decipher what he's actually asking for the majority of the time in the way of assignments. I like the class because I get to chill and hang out with people, and get a credit for it. He caters the class towards students who don't have English as their primary language, so he grades pretty easy.

No matter how you feel about his lectures, you should notice you are wasting money. When I took his class, more than the half of quarter was group work while he was doing something else. How come we need to pay full tuition for him even though he teaches less than 50% of quarter? If you wanna chitchat with class mates, fine, take it.

He is one of the best instructors at bellevue college. i took this class last quarter (spring2011). this class is very easy, just make sure you come to class, since he sometimes has a signin sheet and also do the projects and write journals. i really enjoyed being in the class, it was fun espically doing the projects.

ONE OF THE LAZIEST PROFESSOR IN BELLEVUE COLLEGE.The things he taught in class are mostly useless and the story he told in class have nothing to do with learning communication.He gave grade basic on his mood,so you will never know how your grade will be.

As the person below says, Prof. Yabui is like a grandpa who cares a lot about his grandkids. Sometimes he confuses you w/ deadlines and toolbook is a pain in the butt, but you'll most likely get an A and make friends in the process. Textbooks are moderately used (don't necessarily have to buy them IMO). I'd recommend this class!

He is a nice old man! He is like a grandpa who really cares about his children. He gives critical comments in order to push us forward. His small group communication class is really helpful for our our academic success. I learned a lot during the assigned group project!!!!
