Took Yamato with Franks as co-prof. Show up for class they do participation as credit and it HELPS your grade. They have a lot of slide shows, they are really basic one sentence bullets, but vocally detailed. They are both sure nice and understandable. But stay until END OF CLASS. Thats when they give the credit. Give great feedback. & passionate.

Every class he had a power point up for us to see while he lectured and after the class he would upload it to canvas, so we didn't really need to take notes. He had us do 1 presentation on an article he had us chose, 1 midterm and 1 final, 1 research paper, a few in class handouts and some other easy 1-2 page papers. Show up, do the work. :D

Very great teacher, have to come to class every day, very approachable. All you do in class is just take down power point notes and pay attention to every class or else you WILL fail -- Tests are incredibly hard. Have random in-class assignments, two 750 page essay, and for midterms are 25 multiple questions and 2 essay questions.

**SUPER EASY A!!** Professor Yamato lectures on very relevant Asian American culture topics - they were interesting, relatable and easy to understand. The class is based on one midterm, one final, and one research paper. He is an easy grader for the paper, always gives good feedback, and allows a one page reference "cheat" sheet for exams.

Very simple, yet hard class to pass. 2 simple essays (750 words each), few in-class easy worksheets, 2 midterm,& 1 final. His lectures are long, but very detailed. Everything's on power point, but does not upload them, therefore you HAVE to go to class. Tests are hard and tricky. MUST MEMORIZE EVERYTHING. He is very nice, easy class, but hard tests

Extremely boring lectures but extremely easy grader. Do the reading and study for the tests from his study guide and you would be fine. I personally don't care much for history so getting through his class with an A- left me happy. No HW assigned either.

Professor Yamato is great. He is extremely helpful. He gets back to you via email pretty quickly. It is not necessary to take notes during class because he posts all of his powerpoint presentations on his website however it's helpful to take notes. He lets you use 2 pages of notes on the midterm and final. Recommended.

Had Yamato/Habal for 33A and B. Same with Habal, he's not bad, but not great either. You will learn if you pay attention, but that's pretty hard in this class. Slides go only over key notes for exams so the book is a MUST for studying.
