Dr. Benney is truly a nice guy and wants his students to do well. He is always available for extra help outside of class which counts towards participation if you're the type of who doesn't like to speak up in class. That being said, he is very critical on grading, especially with papers and participation.

As long as you participate in class alot he will love you. Just make sure you read the chapters because you get a bunch of quizzes, but if you get a bad grade on those there are like 5 papers (1 pages double spaced) that can bring your grades up. The Midterm was really simple too. He is very nice, and really easy to approach

Benney is a wonderful professor. If you meet with him he is very helpful and understanding. There are ways to do well in this class. Finals and midterms are very similar from year to year as far as vocab goes. Easy class to pass with a B. Participation is key, even if your input has zero relevance.

Midterms and Finals aren't too bad as long as you take good notes from his slide shows. Everything he talks about is just rambling making it hard to participate and earn the 20% of your grade. Its near impossible to get an A but pretty easy to get a B or C

Personally, I loved Benney's class. He is very helpful, and very understanding. He is tough though...Tests are difficult, usually a small quiz each week (easy on stuff just talked about) and participation is the main grade of the class. In his own words, Truly Outstanding work merits an A...so for those not willing to participate, avoid.

U can have the highest grades in all tests,papers,quizes and hw, but you don't get an A. you'd have to talk many times in every class, or u get a C (if you talk on average or go to his office sometimes) u get a D for participation, which lowers urgrade. He says u have to be a class leader to get an A(means u have to comment on everythingeveryclasss

A good religion class to take! He's a really nice guy - all you have to do is e-mail him once and a while or talk in class and he'll like you. if you go to class you're more than fine, his "research" papers are A PAGE! his quizzes are 1-3 questions and usually something HE JUST WENT OVER 2 seconds before. his midterm/final are a long but not hard

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!DON'T take other RS10 class. Hard grader, tons of reading, picky grader, research papers, mid-term and final ( vocab need to know definitions and have two write a paragraph essays, and two long essays)which are worth almost half the exam. AVOID this class!!!

very nice guy; very approachable. always willing to meet with you and help. class is difficult only because of the amount of material covered. you'll be ok if u go to class and actually read the book!!! numerous quizzes that require some knowledge from the book and some from the class right before it. study what he stresses and you can succeed

It's a mixed bag: a very nice and knowledgeable professor, who really wants his students to succeed and is available and willing to help. However, there are a lot of quizzes and you'll be subject to some VERY abstract ideas. It's more of a philosophy class than a straight-up Religious Studies course, so beware.
