I had Daddel for the entire 17 series last year. He is so sweet and funny and he makes the effort to know his students. His exams are tough so study the material, but tons of partial credit and he curves well. Doing his hw and discussion sheets (both optional) raised me from a B in 17A to an A in 17B&C. Know the lecture material and you'll be fine.

He doesn't use canvas so I had no idea what my grade was. I went up to ask him and he started telling me a story of him riding a bike and how you shouldn't get distracted by knowing your grade in the class until the end. His lectures were disorganized and I had no idea when he was starting a new topic. Tests were hard. Class average was around 60%

If you have taken calculus in high school and feel extremely confident then he may be the right teacher for you. However, if math doesn't come naturally to you DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. You will struggle if you do not learn how to teach yourself. Unorganized lectures and tests were near impossible to manage.

The class requires a lot of outside studying and work if you want a good grade. His lectures were sometimes complex, and missing class definitely hurts you. That being said, Dad-del really cares about his students and wants them to learn. The material is difficult, but he has an incredible personality and makes students laugh all the time.

His class is very hard. I have always struggled in math, and immediately being thrust into Short Calculus from Precalculus did not help. He goes through notes fast, and his accent is hard to understand. I suggest only taking his class if you are naturally good at math and like to teach yourself. Do the homework online to give yourself a cushion.

Class website has no syllabus. When I emailed him, he said he handed them out the first day and I needed to 'ask a classmate' for it. Didn't post MT/quiz grades until the last week of class. Then, scores didn't indicate what they were out of. Class is 95% proofs despite being APPLIED linear algebra. He sprung two projects on us during finals week.

You just come to 1 lecture, and the rest of the quarter is just doing homework assignments online. 7/9 of the HWs are pretty easy; just make sure you're doing & submitting them correctly (make sure not to skip part of the assignment by accident like me!). The other 2 assignments were challenging, so I'd recommend coming to TA office hours for help.

Professor Daddel was an okay professor. He truly cares about his students. He tries his best to explain his lectures clearly but it ca be confusing sometimes. He offers a lot of extra credit, so take advantage of that. Quizzes and test are hard but the curve is really generous. Go to office hours and tutoring if you need help.

He's a really nice guy and genuinely cares about his students; He always asks if it's Friday yet and it's adorable how he thinks that's hilarious even the 20th time he asks us. His tests are curved pretty nicely and even though I was about to make bricks before the final because I failed the first midterm, I did above average and somehow made it ok.

His lectures are extremely conceptual and he talks about how theorems came to be instead of trying to show you examples. The tests are insanely hard and he gives extra credit but it doesn't do anything for your grade. Weekly homework and quizzes in discussion and 3 midterms plus a final. If you want to take 17B take any teacher besides Dad-del

I had Daddel for MAT17ABC and I'm pretty glad. 3 midterms are not that bad, but final and weekly quizzes are unusually difficult. Good lecturer though! Willing to help as much as possible (literally wants to give you points on tests). Homework is collected at the end of the quarter for extra credit. Solid prof imo, I enjoyed his class

I did not learn a thing from his lectures. What got me through it all was reading the textbook on my own and doing the homework and discussion sheets.

He's very knowledgeable, but it can be hard to follow his speed during lecture. I used to love math, but this class made me detest it. I felt so lost. Do the homework and discussion sheets before tests/quizzes. The difficulty of problems on homework and discussion is not even close to the tests, though. Beware

Caring teacher. Prepare to self-study because that is the reality of university. Come to class prepared, read the textbook sections. Lectures can be hard to keep up with. MIdterms 1 &2 were similar to HW, the final was a genuine challenge but curved. Use his or the TAs office hours and discussions practically if you have trouble understanding.

Beware of using the textbook and the lecture notes. They not the same material, but you have to know all the material and when to use it on the test, homework, and pop quizzes. Nothing is clearly labeled. His lectures are understandably clear, but he requires you to participate in them. There is a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time.

I had already taken Calculus AB in high school yet still struggled through this class. Dad-del cares about his students, but unfortunately his lectures need improvement as they are often very unorganized. I will also say that he offers extra credit for a few points that may help your grade! Definitely go to office hours!

Dr. Daddel is a really nice guy, he actually cares about his students. Hes easily accessible outside of class, but OH would get crowded. His lectures were unorganized and were directly related to the text. Read the text before class and take note on what he says "is important" bc these proofs will show up on the exams. Exams were tough!

Do the discussion sheets and homework before quizzes/ tests! If you do not understand how to do a problem from your homework or the discussion sheets, go to his OH's or a TA's. This is how I got an A on all of my midterms/ quizzes. His lectures are great for reinforcement of knowledge (I took calc in hs).

Daddel is a good lecturer. I have a lot of respect for him as a person and as a lecturer. His tests, however, were insanely difficult in my opinion. Luckily, there was a very strong curve. Grades were based on three midterms, weekly quizzes, and the final. Extra credit opportunities for homework and TA office hours attendance.
