His class was a little tough, but if you put in the effort, you'll do fine. He is a nice guy. Funny. Knows his stuff. Grades harsh yet fair. Extra credit opportunities. Really values his students' feedback. He is very well rounded while teaching. He'll show many examples of the same things bc he knows everyone learns different.

Great professor, tests are tough but an A is achievable if you study and take all of the notes. Engage in class, he'll remember you and be more likely to help you when you need it.

He is tough but fair. Dr. B is one of the most intelligent professors I've encountered, and knows his stuff inside and out. He expects a lot out of his students, especially in courses more advanced than basic plant biology. His plant systematics and field botany courses are the most challenging, but also the most rewarding I've taken at SEMO.

This class will become BO 300 in the near future. Overall Dr. Bornstein is a very good teacher. In his classes you will definitely learn something. The exams can be tough from time to time, but if you study your notes you should be ok. Like some others have said, he gives partial credit on tests where he doesn't have to give any.

Very passionate about what he is teaching. Tests aren't bad as long as you take good notes & basically memorize them because typically everything will be on the exam in some way or another. Some say he's picky, but what he does is give partial credit where he could easily have given you none. He will respect you as long as you respect his class!

He can be very condescending and lecturing. He will "nickel & dime" you on test and paper points. If you ask a question he does not like, he can also make you feel "stupid" for asking the question. I'm sure that he is not a bad guy, but, well... He is definitely not very inspiring as a teacher.

He sometimes gives out random extra credit and that's always very nice. Also, students have the opportunity to ask what will be covered on the exams before they happen.

He is very specific on what he wants and will not accept something if it is not formatted the exact way he wants, but the good thing is he explains exactly what he wants and gives every opportunity for people to ask for help. Also engaging and can be funny. Also, always come for the next class after tests because he gives extra credit.

He does everything his way and he will force you to go through hoops just to turn stuff in. He has his own form of citation that makes no sense at all and he expects you to figure it out on your own. His exams are super hard and there's no way to prepare for them.

Dr.B is a very intelligent guy. He can help you understand and clarify anything from his lectures. Attending class is mandatory, he does not take attendance but you will be very far behind missing even one class. His homework, which is rare, is fairly easy. No textbook needed for his class, but his exams are DIFFICULT.

Bornstein was an okay professor. His tests are fairly difficult, but it's not hard to get an A if you do well on everything else. I didn't find his class very interesting, but I also wasn't interested at all in the subject-I took it to satisfy a gen ed. Attendance isn't mandatory, and in fact, most students don't show up to the class.

Overall, I didn't really enjoy this class. Bornstein is a decent professor, but oftentimes doesn't clearly state what he wants for assignments and he is very nitpicky. His tests are terrible. I found myself nodding off to sleep almost every day. I wouldn't recommend this class.

Very nice and funny teacher. However, you might as well send in all of your homework to the writing lab before turning it in because he takes off even for spelling mistakes or saying the word metacarpals instead of digits. It's the same thing!!! He acts like he is very clear on what he wants from you but it is a trick. Write as much as possible.

He's an easy teacher and funny. The tests are easy but you want to get down to the nitty-gritty with every detail to get all the points you can. He can also be very picky about your answers and the bad part is how picky he is about punctuation. I didn't know this was an english class? Haha.

This class is easy. Simply do the work. He gives you so many hints and so much information that it's almost impossible to get the wrong answer on anything. If you have a question he is there to help you out. He is also a bit of a comedian to keep the class interesting. Made me love biology even more!

Super helpful, absolutely does not stop re-explaining things until everyone understands. Class was actually very fun, and I find it mindblowing that anyone could find it difficult. Easy A if you can think critically, if not, you don't deserve an A anyway?

The material wasn't hard, but it's not always clear what he's looking for. Be sure to proofread EVERYTHING, because he is picky about that. Also, don't take his class if you'll have a problem being talked down to. He basically treated my whole class like 3 year olds who were supposed to know all of the material already.
