Just don't get her started on "Swiffers!" This professor is brilliant and she is hilarious. She keeps your interest and is interested in what you have to say. Will listen to you when you disagree with her views on topics or writers, etc. and encourages you to speak up. I was awed by how smart she was, but never intimidated. Loved her. Recommend.

Love this professor. She is funny, but she expects you to bring serious thought to the class. Texts are enjoyable. A LOT of reading! Getting through it can be a challenge. She does not coddle you, but she will help you. Lets the conversation go off course if it becomes interesting and is pertinent to the subject. Expects your best.

Absolutely one of the best classes I've taken! Very challenging material, but Amy was invested in helping us learn. She actually talked -with- us and not at us. She was also always willing to answer questions after class and encouraged us to visit her office.

Amy Martin is an excellent Intro to Lit professor. She opened my eyes to new ways of understanding the text, and helped my essay writing a lot. She has interesting opinions, but prefers to facilitate student discussions. Her class can be demanding, but it is well worth the effort.

Comment:
Amy Martin will make you hate English. She loves to talk about herself and will insert her inane opinions into every class discussion. She is obviously insecure and does not like to be questioned. She has a pathetically juvenile habit of talking about every sexual innuendo she can find in her awful book choices. Her tenure should be taken away.

Comment:
Amy Martin interrupts us when we are trying to make points. She takes the fun away from reading books. She constantly jumps the gun. You can tell she means well, but she is very unclear in her explanations and in what constitutes a certain grade. She is not very helpful in terms of thesis construction and I do not feel as if I'm a better writer.

Amy is wonderful. She is so personable and really engages the class. She encourages questions, opinions, and discussion about anything you don't get, want to share, or have a comment on. I liked her so much I asked her to be my Adviser. I definitely recommend her for any English class.

Martin kept finding homoerotic love in every single one of the texts. She is honestly obsessed with it. She also was eager to meet with me during office hours but was totally harsh in her comments and didn't let you disagree with her.

I took an american lit seminar and she chose the worst possible readings, too many of them, and her discussions were hardly engaging. would not recommend her.

I know I'm not alone in wanting to clone Prof. Martin, so everyone could have their own personal copy. I don't think that it would do her wonderfulness justice though. Just the greatest professor ever.

Amy Martin is the most amazing professor I have ever had. Anyone who is an English major should take at least one course with her because she opens up the world of literature like no other professor at MHC. British lit at MHC will never be the same.
