Great teacher and class. TOUGH grader. You must complete all readings without just skimming them. Highest grade that she gave out in my class was a 3.3. She will give you lots of feedback if you go to office hours, but going does not promise a higher grade. Great readings and content but you must participate. She WILL make you a better writer.

She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Sure, she is a tough grader but you will learn a lot if you put in the effort. You HAVE to participate in discussion or she will probably grade your papers harder.

She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is a tough grader but pretty much the only thing she grades on are papers. She always gives you clear guidelines for the papers and it is never unclear what she wants from you. I became a much better reader and writer in her class and highly recommend her despite her notoriously tough grading.

Professor Borcila is the best professor that I've had at MSU. The class is not easy, but it has improved my writing as well as my understanding of the world. She does grade harshly, but my writing has improved as a result.

very interesting professor. I enjoyed the class a lot, it really opened me up to new perspectives, however you do focus on racism for the majority of the time... a helpful little tip, if you smoke go outside with her on the smoke break she takes in the middle of class.. you get to talk one on one and you will generally do better cuz she knows you.

She was a very interesting professor. The class is all about uncovering the concept of racism. You HAVE to participate if you want a decent grade in her class. She is a very nice woman but she is a very tough grader. She doesnt really explain what she is looking for. The class is interesting but I did not learn much about how to improve my writing.

Really passinate about her class, tends to force opinions, if your republican, don't count on doing good. Make sure to talk alot (in discusion), show up to class and don't be late, or she won't let you in. Lots of reading. Its all about racism. Overall good profesor
