Dr. Fort was a great professor to take for my first semester! He's really interesting made religion fascinating. Everyone in class loved him. He is not an easy A, though. The tests are hard and include essays. I took the honors section and the last third of the semester was projects by the students. Take him if you have the chance!

Required readings before every class. I did them at the beginning of the semester but eventually just kinda stopped. It doesn't matter. Skim through them before the test. He gives you test reviews for all 2 of your tests. Then spend rest of the semester listening to presentations (which don't take long to prepare). Final exam is personal reflection

I took Honors Religion as a first semester freshman who wasn't initially interested in religion. Dr. Fort is an excellent teacher and his class is very interesting. There is a big project that takes up the last third of the semester, but even that isn't too hard. If you're trying to decide who to take, go with Dr. Fort. Catch him before he retires

Dr. Fort is the trippyest teacher I've ever had. It's possible he did ALOT of LSD back in the 70's and his lectures are basically a drum circle. you aren't going to learn about religions, you're going to learn how to learn about religions. confusing? yes. But very fun and interesting! A's are difficult but B+'s are given out like candy.

His grading system is unusual-go talk to him if you want to know how you're doing in the class. You should read at least most of the time. Insight, insight, insight.

He was really awesome and tells great stories about himself when he was in college and they are incredible. Really loves to engage students and tries to make his lectures as interesting as possible. If you write well and are good at thinking abstractly and are open to new views about religion. You will get a B+ or higher.

Easy class! Very interesting and not hard to understand. Not the classic "TCU religion" class that everyone complains about. Gives you study guides that tells you everything on your test.

The class was discussion based and very interesting. You can tell he's really interested in what he's teaching and really wants you to think about the material. He can be a little confusing at times but he's very helpful when you ask. If you want an A you have to do all the reading but its an easy B.

Incredibly intelligent in regards to religion and theology, especially eastern religions, which he specializes in. Teaches each religion as if it were the absolute truth. Extremely thought provoking. Tests are almost entirely written, so studying is mandatory to get an A, which he does not hand out freely, though you will learn a lot.

Dr. Fort is my favorite professor at TCU. His Buddhism class was so interesting and really blew my mind. He has essay tests which require studying, but if you do the readings, participate, and show interest it's 100% possible to make a good grade. Take a class with him. You'll love it!

Prof Fort is very passionate about his class. He is a great teacher if you are willing to go to class. His lectures are easy to follow and enjoyable. I loved this class so much and am happy I took it! All tests are written, but it was a huge advantage to my grade. Pay attention and youll get an A.

By far the best professor I've had at TCU. I took honors World religions with him and the class was wonderful. Lectures are always very interesting- I looked forward to coming to class. The exams/ projects were not easy, but not impossibly hard either. Fair grading, very helpful. I would retake the class if I could.

This class was very interesting but Fort's grading policies were vague and it made it pretty impossible to make an A. (although a few people did). Exams are writing based and take the full 50 minutes he gives you.

Buddhism: This class is better suited for religion and philosophy majors. The material was difficult to understand, but the assignments weren't hard. This is a class where you have to show up and you have to participate in discussions. He is a typical old-school professor. He uses the entire class period.

Understanding Relgion: Worldviews. Dr. Fort is awesome! He's very laid back and keeps the class engaged. His class gave me a new outlook on religion. It's not the easiest religion but it's very doable and I recommend it because it's extremely interesting and makes you think in new ways. His tests are all essay. It's not an easy A but it's worth it!

Really awesome teacher, lectures are extremely interesting however the class is very difficult. I'd be prepared to work hard because the tests are all essay based questions. It is doable but not an easy class. I would highly recommend it because I learned a lot despite the difficulty. One of the best classes I had at TCU.

Assigns a lot of reading and makes you buy a lot of books. I had his seminar class and it was relatively easy as far as the religion department is concerned. Doesn't take a stance on many issues, but challenges students to think phenomenologically and to stay open-minded. Corny jokes, but laid-back enough to have a good time in class.
