I've taken a few classes with Dr. Nelson, and I've found his classes to be the ones I learn the most in. He does post a lot of slides, but he gets through the material in about half of the class time. He is a prominent name in his field, so you get to see and learn about a lot of his own discoveries as well!! Very engaging professor!

The best teacher I've ever had in university. Helpful with course material and with general school stuff (apps, grad school). Just do the work and go to class and you'll be glad you did.

Great Prof. Lectures are a tad dry, but thisisn't his fault - taxonomy is boring. Very helpfull after class. He does make grad. school seem as though it is impossible to get into, but he will do everything he can to help those who show interest and promise

great professor -- makes the material very interesting. also very helpful outside of class. On the downside, as grad chair he is not very encouraging of undergrads applying to grad school - makes it sound impossible.
