Nice guy and has good knowledge of the subject. Extremely difficult test maker and marker, try to take the course with another professor if you wish to get a good grade. Very low average on tests for a 100 level course.

Even if I am a big fan of American politics, I have regretted registering to this course, and the professor was one of the main reasons for such a scenario. First, he does not speak very loud. Second, he seems to be bored at teaching. Third, he is a very harsh marker, and his explanations are not easy to understand.

His delivery style is a bit dry, but he is very knowledgeable and informative. Made clear some political issues I previously had a hard time understanding. Not an easy marker though, which can be expected when taking politics at Bishop's.

Has structured powerpoint slides, but spends all class opining rather than providing info. Midterm (was so lazy on his part!): 2 essays on vague 1-word topics ("immigration" "confederation" "quebec referendum" etc). His expectation: 4 pages each, double spaced, in 1 hour. Everyone else on here says he is funny, but he bores me to tears. Avoid!!

Professor Stritch was my instructor at Western many years ago. I think he taught me in his first semester there. He used project-based learning when most instructors lectured; he encouraged me to pursue a master's degree; he inspired me to conduct research. Thank you Professor Stritch! :-)

You must go to class and take good notes. If you don't want to, don't take one of his classes. If you do, you'll learn so much from this wonderful, cute, British man. Overall, excellent professor. Brilliant prof. Very approachable and kind hearted. His exams are straightforward as long as you go to class and take good notes. He is the king of that typical 'dry' British humor. And his blazers are awesome..leather elbow patches on tweed.

I hated this class. Lectures were very hard to follow. He either liked you or he didn't and he obviously did not like a few of the people in the class. He seems pretty laid back, but he'll get you in the exams if you didn't do the readings.

Can't believe British liberal taught me US politics during Bush's first term. Hilarious, in retrospect. Not too hard of a marker, but not overly generous either. Thought I deserved higher...forgot my name a few times, but pretty cool guy. Fun to drink with.
