Comment:

I love English and the material taught in this class, however she is a bully and she likes to humiliate her students. It's like it gives her some sick pleasure to point and laugh if she demands that you answer her question and you get it wrong. I'm sure she would be fine, funny even, if she just stuck to lectures, but this woman has issues.

Anne seems (at first) like an absolute kook but once you get past her eccentricity - she is an absolute cup of tea. So hilarious and never fails to reference foolish things that somehow always have to do with what's being taught. She is captivating and cares about your wellbeing. If you don't like to work, you'll crash and burn. She'll tell you ;)

Anne may be a tough grader but she's always up to help students out. She can seem rather tough and intimidating in class, but she's one of the nicest, funniest people you will ever meet. If she frightens you in class, I suggest seeing her in her office. It's a completely different experience. She loves what she teaches and is extremely entertaining

Dr Furlong is amazing! It takes a class or two to get used to her energy level but once you get a grasp on her eccentricity you cannot help but enjoy her class. She can be a very picky marker but she will also be specific about assignment requirements. She even made me love linguistics, which I never thought would happen.

The most unorganized professor I have had at UPEI. Very rude with feedback in papers. I took this course as an elective, and it ended up having the most work and she was an even harder grader.

She was amazing. If you are not going to go to every class then she will not treat you as nicely as the other students. I missed a substantial amount of time due because I was in the hospital and she did everything she could to help get me caught up with the class.

I love having Anne as a prof. She is a tough marker when it comes to following templates and direction, but this is what helped me out most in other classes, especially in other research classes I have taken with other profs. Her classes are my favourite classes because she often uses humour to teach us on related topics. DEFINITELY the best prof.

What a character! I was so taken aback by her outlandishness that I almost dropped her class, but am so glad I didn't. Her lectures are interesting, she tells amusing stories and is extremely passionate about literature. Very willing to help when asked. Outstanding prof, brilliant person.

Prof. Furlong is extremely vivacious and helpful as an instructor. She holds your interest and is clear in her class instructions, as well as being very flexible with office hours. By far among the best in the department. Granted, she will not let you slide through. but she will do her best to help you improve.

One word to describe Anne Furlong... Horrid. She is a bully and she is down right mean. She fails people on purpose and makes no attempt for students in anyway shape or form. She is bitter and cold towards her students. She is appauling not only as a Professor but as a human being.

Dr.Furlong can be very scary at first. However, I have come to enjoy her classes and although I my marks in her classes were a bit below my usual, I learned a lot from her. She is extremely fiendly and always offering help to fellow students. Beware, attendence is pretty important, as she will tell you on the first day, no excuses for missed class.

This class is not for the weak hearted. She IS scary and the toughest woman alive. Your marks may drop, you may loathe every minute of the class and being in her presence. BUT the fact of the matter is that she knows her stuff and you will learn much more valuable information from her than any other prof in the department.

Crazy lady, scares the bijesus out of you first class but really is approachable once you gain comfort with her. A very smart lady but at the end of the day you will be sour with your mark, as she is Tough with a T.
