Comment:
He spends too much time trying to be funny. Doesn't post anything online or write down assignments so you have to catch homework assignments & lab details in between his rants about a previous student/back in his day/ whatever. My best advice is visit his office if you need clarity about something, independent study & just do the work.

He does: mark attendances before attendance matters trust and use his hand-writing (a lot, including tests and review sheets) review before any tests (only 4 tests with a final, drop lowest) always being funny, sometimes got over the limit (but still) You should: take partial notes, study his handouts Lab: take notes nothing else to worry..

Brauner is a character, he's funny and makes the material humorous to learn but goes off on tangents that sometimes loses your focus on his lectures; lectures very informative (so stay engaged and follow his logic) but he breezes through some of the foundational material in chemistry that is worrisome for students who needs to take 122/221.

Brauner is the worst professor I've ever had, I'm not saying that out of anger I actually really like the guy. I got an A in his class and I didn't learn a single thing. I am in orgo now and I am so behind it's embarrassing. I know nothing about acid base reactions, I had never heard of formal charge before now, what does protonation mean? Help!!

Brauners class is like entering an insane alternate reality--horrible teacher you will learn NOTHING. If you need this class for something like Med/pharm/organic Chem you are going to be@a major disadvantage trust me. If you don't care about learning then he's okay just suck up and he'll give u an A but if you need it u have to learn it on ur own

Dr. Brauner: Passionate about chemistry, solid sense of humor, lectures base on his own notes, and gets irritated when you don't follow his instructions. After every lecture he'll give hw, even though they're not graded, you MUST MUST MUST do them if you wanna pass his exams (I cannot stress that enough). Oh and do lab reports how he wants it.

Dropped this lab after two classes. He was incredibly rude, talking behind students and teachers backs. Teacher's shouldn't be bullies. He doesn't explain any material, refers to chem 110 as a beginner class yet expects you to know it all on the first day. He hates cell phones, tablets, emails and pictures. He acts like he is better than everyone.

He wont talk to you unless you talk to him. If you do go see him, his response is based on his mood that day. He is lenient on everything if you go several times to speak with him. He does have favorites. Your notes will have arrows everywhere. His labs have no direction and he doesn't go by the manual, so pay attention to what HE wants.

Had him for lab and lecture for congruity's sake. Unfortunately lecture was confusing as he doesn't follow the book and lectures off his own notes. You will have to research the info yourself if you care. Labs were frustrating since most weeks no one did the lab correctly; it is not a typical "educational-type" lab.

Unfortunately Brauner's PHD in Chemistry is not enough to be able to teach freshman chemistry. The concepts may have been straight forward but students were left in bewilderment as a cluster of nonspecific information was thrown haphazardly on the board. Reference the material? Nope, he regularly comments do it his way or fail. Nice guy,bad proff.

He has a tough snarky attitude (but a softie) and colorful language but he really cares about his students if they care as well. His lectures are fine and most things he goes over WILL be on the test even though he gets side-tracked. He reviews and gives topics of what will be on the test and you must STUDY THOSE TOPICS. Everything is handwritten.

If you are not the kind of student that wants to study to put together the pieces, don't take this professor. He teaches in such a way that if you don't go home and study, YOU WILL BE LOST (unless you're Neil Tyson). Even if you study, his class is still hard but you feel like a genius when you do well.

The professor will not explain your grade to you, or why you got something wrong. If you stand out in class he will pick on you everyday for the rest of the semester. Don't even ask him how to get an A. He will mention it every class.

Take my advice, if you don't get it. Ask him. He will make sure you get it. Show him that you care - don't just walk out. Study his notes, every single page. Listen in his class. DO whatever he tells you TO DO, and i meant it. I got a C+ to B ,i aced the final. He gave an BIG A

Not the best Chem Professor. Think twice befor taking him. I dropped his class because he showed no interest in whether or not you get it. He loves teaching the course but he is a selfish guy.

Oh my god. As a general person, he's quite funny. As any sort of teacher, he's terrible. He is VERY all over the place. I have had to use youtube all last semester to even understand what we were doing. Not a good professor at all. Tests are all handwritten and he refuses to use a computer. Will not answer emails.

He's set in his ways, but you can tell he loves teaching. He acts grouchy, but underneath, I know he's not. You get to drop your lowest test grade (4 tests total), and an A is 85+, B is 70 - 84, and a C is 55 - 69. You need to work hard to fail. Everything on the test is from the notes. Study and you'll do fine and you might enjoy chemistry.

Dr. Brauner was a hilarious professor. To me, he was like an old nerd messy chemistry professor. He was very helpful when I went to his office hours to ask for help. His homework was not hard, all from textbook, only 3-4 questions, very straight forward to apply what he just lectured in class.Took both chem 121 and 122 with him,got A for both.
