Comment:
This class was what a great humanities course should be: a detailed investigation into the texts where students were encouraged to actively engage in the material they were presented with instead of merely running their eyes over the page. Dr. Krupp is extremely knowledgeable and his classes will make anyone who loves lit/hist/relig very happy!

This was a great, great class. I wish I had taken it as a freshman instead of now, when I'm graduating. I've learned so, so much about how to write well. It's really too bad for UM students that he won't be staying here, but his high school students will be able to profit from his energy, expertise, and genuine care for his students.

Krupp was a tremendous help this semester in multiple areas. I was introduced to books I never in my life would have picked up otherwise, and got much more out of his class in terms of how to write an effective argument than in any English class I have ever had.

In a time when interdisc.scholarship is ever more important, he not only shares his knowledge but challenges his students to think in the same, critical manner. He balances seminars between open discussions, small group analysis, writing style critiques. What more could one want in the humanities? He gives it his all and gets his students to, too.

A true "Renaissance Man" with a desire to not only share humanities scholarship, but a keen talent of being aware of what the entire class needs at any given moment and engaging each student. Intense and demanding, but my writing would not have flourished any other way. Also, he is *always* available for advice on drafts, clarification,.. Amazing.

Intense but great seminar. Learned more about writing than from my English profs in Krupp's course. He really made us work, which may explain negative ratings below. (This class had a real mix of talent in it.) Some think that humanities courses are just for getting easy As. Not with Krupp, no way. But he tries way hard to help anyone who wants it.

Drive-thru teaching at its worst: Disorienting lectures, pretentiousness, and spontaneous lesson-planning make for a not-so-happy meal!

This was my favorite German class so far. It was easy as long as you kept up with the writing, which wasn't too bad. You watch most of the films in class and then talk and write about them. pretty straightforward and Prof Krupp made it a lot of fun.

Professor Krupp is a great guy. I totally recommend him. His class isn't easy, but he really wants everyone to do well and tries to do things the students find interesting. He is also very willing to help in any way. He may be a bit philosophical and eccentric but it's worth it because every one of his classes is interesting.
