I absolutely LOVED professor Santoro! He's a sweet old guy who isn't afraid to make jokes about his age. I heard that he is tougher on freshmen but I took his film class as a junior and adored him. If you go to office hours he offers you tea and homemade cookies. As long as you pay a minimal amount of attention you will do great. Only 5 assignment.

Dr. Santoro is very passionate about history, and his lectures reflect that. However, be ready to write an amazing Book Review, then turn it in early, and don't expect much feedback. There were 3 or 4 tests, including the Midterm and Final. The tests got better as the semester went on, although the essay portion remained extremely difficult.

Yes the class is hard. But this is college and you just gotta deal with that. Showing up to class is mandatory because the lectures are slightly different from the text. His lectures are interesting and the way he connects history to modern topics made the course that much more worth while and important. 2 essays and 3 tests make the grade.

The man gets so off topic it is unreal. You'll start off class talking about ancient Rome, and by the end hes wasted 40 minutes talking about how America doesn't like Nazis. Passing his first exam is nearly impossible. You could study for 6 hours but I hate it break it to you, that's 6 hours not enough

I cannot say enough about this professor as a teacher or friend. I took several course with him. He makes you want to be a life long student. He infects you with his caring for the subject matter. I cannot say enough positive about this good man.

Dr. Santoro teaches from a time when students were better educated. He's an intellectual in every sense. There is so much to learn from him. Often unappreciated because he's tough on freshmen. He's, in reality, a very fair, wise man with so much to offer. You can't go to college without taking professors like this, and he's about all that is left.

Santoro is an extremely well respected professor who knows the material like the back of his hand. The grade in the Hist11 class is determined by 25% test 1, 25% test 2, 25% final & 12.5% each for two book reviews. There's an extra credit type test in the beginning of class & if you do better than 70% it decreases each grade on the scale by 3%.

Dr. Santoro may depend on lectures with limited technology use in class, but he truly cares about his students. Before each test, he gives you a study guide with needed vocab and textbook excerpts you need to know. He also gives handouts in class which will be on the test. Go to class, listen, study, and you'll be fine. He's extremely smart/ caring

Do you like listening to a lecture with no powerpoints or interaction? You'll only pass his class if you come into class with a notebook and write exactly what he says- also, study for the 3 tests you'll have- that's 75% of your grade. 2 book reports make up the rest- turn it in advance and he will revise. He's a good person at heart, put in effort

You will get a cultural education like nothing you've ever experienced before in your life in his class. If you put in the work and show a readiness to learn and follow orders you're going to do well; if you're that rebel kid who has to argue with the professor for everything don't even bother taking him. Smartest man I've ever met.

Dr. Santoro knows a whole lot about history. He seems strict or even mean at first, but he's not cruel and is very helpful outside of class. His class is not one you can breeze through- take good notes, study them, and keep up in the textbook. There's only a few grades (and a little extra credit) so there's not much wiggle room.

As a history major, I found his class quite challenging, but not unbearable. Only 5 grades the whole semester, 3 exams and 2 papers which he all grades very tough. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, I went before the final and he helped me tremendously, I just had to ask. No powerpoints, just lectures from beginning to end so if that's not your style, avoid.

If you're a history buff or major, or just anyone who enjoys hearing interesting stories about ancient history, then this is the class for you! A great teacher who'll help if you reach out, but be prepared to work! There is no such thing as an easy A in his class, but if you put in the work and time, you'll do well.

One of the hardest 100lvl classes I've ever taken. Lecture notes are critical for passing his tests. Studying and paying attention is the only way to pass this class.

Dr. Santoro just sits and lectures at the front of the class. He tests you based on what he lectured on AND what's in the book, so you have to study both for the tests. He gives you good study guides. Just define each word in the list and read all the chapters assigned and go over the notes, and you should be fine. I personally liked him.

I love him, he's the best! He is brilliant, hilarious, well-traveled and full of amazing anecdotes. He may come off as intimidating at first but he cares, and will likely have you cracking up at some point. I took several classes with him and enjoyed them all. He is not an easy grader but do the work and go to class and you will be successful.

Professor Santoro's style of teaching is all lecture but he gets the message across. It can be boring at times but there is only 2 book reviews which he gives you a sample and then he also does progressive grading. If you do bad on the first test don't be discouraged just study and if you do better on the second test the first will go away
