This man is more concerned with his "high standards" than actually teaching students. He explodes at every perceived slight. Lord help you if you ever mispronounce his name. His syllabus had a section in it on how to greet him in class and in the hallways. Honesty, apparently, is not his forte.

Comment:
Very tough class if you haven't taken calculus before. Weekly quizzes were much harder than the actual tests. Quizzes consisted of 5-6 long problems and he would give you about 10 minutes to finish or he would leave. Did not explain in much detail and assumed that the class had already taken calc before. Was more than willing to help if needed

He is a good guy and expects a lot out of you. Definitely knows his stuff and is more than willing to help you. The course required a fair bit of effort but I learned more than with any previous math course. If you're looking for an easy A, he is not your guy.

Very hard & High Expectations, Prepares you well for final and later calculus courses. He is very conceptual; you have to figure out the mathematical processes for solving problems yourself. I had to study more for his class than would be required in most math courses (13 hours a week). He does have a great amass of knowledge and shares it well.

His class is NOT easy. He teaches the basics and expects you to do the homework on your own to learn the rest. While the homework is only "recommended" you WILL NOT pass the class if you don't do it. The good news is that if you do the homework and have questions, he will go over them before class for the whole class.

Awesome guy, great sense of humor, and a good teacher as well. You can tell he genuinely wants his students to understand the material and makes sure everyone is clear before moving on. Very helpful in office hours as well. Don't let his "foreign" name intimidate you; his English is just fine. Also no comprehensive final which was very nice.

His class notes are a bunch of definitions and he uses examples from the book... He does not use many other examples. He is willing ot meet with you outside of class but unless you have alot of time to literally read the book and memorize definitions, this class is hard to pick up.

I took his Calculus with Business Applications class during the summer. He is great! Not only was he nice but he also talked a lot about his life in Spain. He also drops the lowest test. We did have a quiz every wednesday and test each friday. I did get confused a couple of times, follow the book if this happens, it will become your best friend.

Be prepared to work, but he will teach you more than any other math teacher. Also, his genuine love of mathematics is contagious and it inspires you to do your best. You can tell that he works very hard at how he explains/teaches concepts. Anyone that gives Dr. Quesada a bad review is because they are lazy.

He expects a lot of work outside of the class and some group projects. Our whole group failed a project because of 1 small mistake. His first test the whole class failed so he curved it so the highest grade was a 70%. He also included things on the test that we never covered and claimed they were in his power points until someone proved him wrong.

Don't take his class if you aren't planning on working hard. WAY too demanding with projects... both of mine ended up being 60+ pages! Expects you to guess what he expects from the class, gives you no warning that he wants a 500+ page portfolio with everything done over the semester... you are just supposed to figure this out on your own!

He was the hardest professor I have ever had, but I also learned the most in his class. He drives himself as much as he drives the students. He teaches stuff you won't find in the textbooks; all of it is valuable. You must keep up, and pace yourself, as his classes are like a marathon race; but you feel like a winner by the end of the semester.

I had Quesada for a geometry class that in previous years I had heard was a cake walk. He turned it into a Cabri/uber-theory class with LOADS of work. He did seem genuinely interested in his students and their progress, but he was just too demanding.
