Davies is incredibly hard yet inspiring. He's super smart & very articulate. You'll have to work your butt off -don't take him if you're lazy. He's a must for economics majors. This is the most useful Econ course and is very quantitative. You'll learn how to turn data into a useful tool & make arguments based on evidence. My favorite professor here

A corporatist propagandist blowhard. Real snide and cute sounding, but pure bulldooky with no science. Ignores entirely the social structure of production. He is teaching nothing but feel-good corporate-apologist cliches. Pure nonsense. This guy should NOT be working at any real university.

Professor Davies is a solid guy who is available for help, if you need it. Our class was 100% discussion based, and he definitely makes you work for an A in the class. At first the grading criteria wasn't totally clear, but it got better as the class went along. Overall, I think Davies is a good professor, and I enjoyed the discussion based class.

He is a nice guy and will help you if you need it. Lots of group work and no quizzes/exams. If you miss class you will struggle on the projects, but his lectures hardly ever take the whole time period. Take notes in excel - they will save you later.

such an arrogant a$$! lectures are youtube videos (posted in 2004), HW problems are completely unrelated to the lectures, the entire class is 6 wks (!) and grading is based on 7 HW problems. the only way to reach for help is by discussion board, which his replies are so cocky and have nothing to do with the question being asked. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!

Probably the most arrogant and pretentious professor I have ever taken. The entire semester did not matter at all, since he increased the final's weight on a whim which took 6 hours. Replies to emails in one word. Lectures are attention grabbing- but none of it actually matters. Busy work in MystatLab that costs a fortune.

Horrible. Irrelevant discussion board s every week for busy work. ALSO Oral exams in a STATS class?! WHY? Lectures aren't pertinent to the actual material. Mediocre teaching method; felt as if I was in a high school level class. Not direct about the material at all. Comes off as very arrogant and uses unnecessary big words in explaining material.

Not a friendly guy over emails. Hardly can get a response to questions and always feel like I'm a bother. However, in person he is helpful, interesting and actually nice. He gives amazing lectures so make sure to show up to those. He only gave a midterm and final each with less than 20 questions on it. Work hard, read the book and go to class.

He is easily one of the best teachers at duquesne. The material is hard but his lectures are THE BEST lectures I have ever come across. He wants to help his students so bad and he is very nice. No matter how hard his tests are or how hard the class is, I would take again 1million times for the lectures.

Davies is easily one of the two greatest professors I have ever had. That being said, 301 is not an easy class. Ace the oral exam and get constant feedback on your paper. Participation is also a really good idea.
