He knows his material so well because he was there. He fought in WW2. Don't make the same mistake I made by thinking that just because you passed his exams that he won't fail you since you misses a few of his classes. Attendance is a must. Other than that he's a great professor.

You will not meet a finer teacher. He's the best and he knows it. Hughes loves history and his classes come alive with his knowledge. Tests -> What tests? We knew everything without even studying because he taught so well.

Good teacher. It's impossible not to get an A in his class in you study the material. He prints out everything you need to study, so there's really no note taking in the class. If you miss a class, he makes sure you can get the missing hand outs. Test are easy, they follow the same basic formula.
