Dear friends, run as FAR as you can from this course. Absolutely brutal exams, hard assignments (way too much work for 4% each), and a tough marker on the group case. I'm an A- student typically, and am seriously concerned about failing this class, it is THAT hard. Her midterm had a grand total of 3 questions for 30% of your mark... RUN.

She is very knowledgeable and a very fair grader on cases and assignments. Her exams are very difficult. Our final average was 55% . She is nice and approachable but a little dry and monotone in her lectures.

Super nice, but she has stupid tests. She lets you use a cheat sheet. Absolutely useless 9 out of 10 times. Know EVERYTHING in each 'note'. If you think she wont include it on an exam... She will.

She is tough and the exams do not match what you learn in class. the textbook is not helpful as it only explains the basic concepts. She occasionally says something important in class however she reads her notes word for word.

Tough exams but everyone does bad so that's something.. Just hard on your ego. She will help you with anything and really cares about her students. She gives a lot more work than other profs teaching the same class. Hard to find a decent Finance prof at this school.. She is one of the few. Cheers

She is very nice and helpful in her office hours.She teachs alot during the class. You must pay attention in her class, becasue she will test every thing or even something you have never heard about in her Mid and Final exam. The exams are crazy hard, and be upset if you fell you will fail the class.

Great prof. She does do a lot of proofs, but if you really want to learn something then take one of her classes. She teaches difficult concepts that are important in finance. She is highly knowledgeable, and willing to help you learn.

the whole class is spent doing useless proofs that are never tested. she is extremely boring to listen to, and the notes she hands out in class are all over the place and hard to follow. take a class with her only if it's the last resort.

Have taken a few of her classes. She is very knowledgeable, and a good professor. However, she makes topics harder than they need to be (Too many un-needed proofs that just confuse and make the course appear more difficult than it is). You will have a hard time in her classes if you dont attend regularly.

Covers more difficult material in a single class than you'd think possible. Spends too much time doing proofs that you don't need to know and won't understand anyway. Pretty tough all round, but she is one of the nicest and most helpful profs ever in office hours so you have to respect her.

I took all the courses that she teaches (413,418,422) and I have to say she will teach you concrete theory if you are willing to learn. You don't really need to understand the math proofs in order to do well but you will need them if you want a career in trading or i-banking. Barbara is extremely nice and really willing to help. Highly recommended.

Great professor once you are familiarize yourself with her style. Ignor the math proofs, know the material cold and ride the curve. Here classes are the easiest to get an A/A+ as you usually only need slightly over 80%. Extremly helpful notes and very accomodating outside of class.

She is one of the nicest, most helpful, patience prof. Her notes contain a LOT of materials, so study hard! But her assignments and project were decent. I know people don't like her tests cause they are not similar questions as the notes, practise problems, but she tests our learning ability, not our ability to regurgitate.
