The work load is entirely too heavy for an online summer class. Expect to multiple articles and/or chapters on a DAILY basis. She does not allow time during the week to complete the research paper, project, and presentation that are a graded requirement of the class. I am nearly complete with grad classes, and her class was by far the hardest.

She is very bad. About two reviews said she was smart ha ha youll have to excuse them they have no idea what they are talking about. Out of over 40 professors she is dead last in expertise in her field and being a person you would want to be around.

Doctor Stern is the worst college professor I have ever dealt with. Honestly, if I had her undergraduate I would have dropped out of education. She's belittling, lazy, assigns WAY too much work with no justification, syllabus is so vague and missing half of what it should, and she gets extremely annoyed when you ask her questions. Avoid!!!

Comment:

Online: Discussion boards and chapter quizzes every week. I never understood why I got low grades on the DBs, but quizzes were fair. 3 journal entries on current event articles, 2 movie reviews, a couple other assignements--all brought up my grade. I LOVE the book! I can't wait to be a teacher! I recommend this class for people who feel the same :)

Took the class online and she wasn't too helpful in emails, but just do the work and follow the guidelines for discussion/papers/movie reviews and you will do fine (just show EFFORT and write a good amount); quizzes are the only bad thing, they're a little tough but if you review/have your book no reason not to get a B on them. I had her for an online class. Pretty straight forward, everything was laid out however she wasnt very helpful when I e-mailed her and she expected alot of work out of us. When we had days off of school she expected us to do more work becuase we "had more time" when in reality we as students still have alot of other things to do as well.

Dr. Stern is the LAZIEST teacher I have EVER had, yet all she does is complain about how much "work" she has to do. She does NOTHING. On-line class so you teach yourself EVERYTHING and you HAVE to read the book. LOTS of tedious work that isn't hard but pay attention to deadlines and if you get behind you're done. Boring but easy A.

Dr. Stern is a tough grader, but you earn your grades in her class. She is incredibly intelligent and has so much to offer to future teachers. She has high expectations for her students and when you meet them you know that you have accomplished something, which is more than I can say for most education classes.

Onlinec ourse, meets only 5 times a semester. A lot of work, but not really hard. Group discussions, weekly online quizzes, and no tests. (Not even a final.) Had to get into a routine for the class... even so she gave ambiguous grades. Never knew why you were getting points off when you did. Tough grader.

This is gifted woman. Unfortunately, Dr. Stern has to suffer idiots on a daily basis. Trust me, how cordial could you be to students who are too lazy to work and shutters at any teacher that requires a little thought and effort. Why so many people don't get Dr. Stern is that they have never been in presence of such brilliance.
