Barb Trish is definitely a treasure to Grinnell. She was my advisor and I took every class with her that I could. She gets the most important parts of being a professor right: Sensitive to students' needs not making her class too hard (rare at Grinnell), great knowledge of academia and the academic process, and very helpful whenever you ask for it.

Very nice, knows a lot about American politics. Class discussion can meander and she's a bit scatterbrained, but that's ok because you know she'll forgive you if you're a bit scatterbrained too. She's my advisor and she's kind and always willing to chat and offer advice, but you'll have to remember to turn things in on time. She won't remind you

Decent prof-- clearly knows a lot, and intro is probably lower on her radar than her other courses. Easy enough grader, but class could get boring. Classes felt disjointed at times.

A little scatterbrained during lectures at some points, but she was always engaging. She frequently requested honest feedback on little aspects of the class, like which readings were interesting, etc… Great prof, super nice person, but I do not recommend taking a class from her if you are uncomfortable speaking in class. Participation is a must.

Barb Trish is one of my absolute favorite professors at Grinnell. Her class is interesting, she's engaging, and she assigns very useful texts, yet does not overload you with reading. She's genuinely concerned for her students and is committed to helping them. Take a class with her if you can and definitely go see her during office hours.

This is my third class with Professor Trish. Her research within political science deals with american politics (political parties, elections, and presidency) She is very helpful, provides interesting academic journals, and the structure of class is very fair along with the grading. Good teacher and a very nice lady. Reading is very important for the class because she will call on you. She will prepare you for upper level classes with the material you go into but is a tough grader but overall a great prof.

Great Professor. Very Helpful one-on-one. Very clear directions. Fairest grader at Grinnell. Highly Intelligent. Will call on you in class though, so be prepared to do the readings. Besides readings, the papers are faily easy. Overall, I recommend her to all incoming freshmen.

I found class discussions/lectures to be pretty boring, but that was mostly because of the material and not because of trish. She's very helpful and friendly. The course is fairly easy, with only 2 tests and one paper.

I personally love Trish. She's so sweet and really specific about what she is looking for on papers... I found her tests to be kinda fun and well written. Lots of feedback and always a chance to improve your grade with an edit component to essays.

If you like math or stats. this is the class you should take. Personally I dislike it. I find it boring and really don't care about all the data she presents in class.
