He is a good professor. All he talks about is baseball and the Grateful Dead "his favorite". He spends half of the class getting off topic and talking about sports etc. Easy to talk to. Always will find the time to meet with you and talk about anything. He does grade papers pretty hard.

Dr. Truchil was not a good professor at all. His "Lectures" consisted of him rambling on about his liberal opinions. I barely learned anything about sociology from him, and was forced to learn directly from the book. His grading system consists of 3 grades, a midterm, a paper, and a final.

Truchil's class is the best! We learn a lot by just having a normal conversation, doesn't even feel like a lecture. He makes funny jokes constantly and always does drum and guitar solos. Great class!!

Dr. Truchil is my favorite professor. He makes sociology (a subject I considered dryboring prior to his class) entertaining and interesting. His lectures are long but his explanations are thorough. He uses plenty of real life examples for clarity, which are usually pretty funny. Gives and answers 3 essay questions, 2 of which are on the exams.

He is one of the best sociology professors, if not the best. He has a wide range of knowledge, funny, and most importantly wants you to do well. If you put in the effort and work, he will see and will always be willing to help. Schedule appointments for him to review your papers and assignments and you will do well. Also note everything in lecture

A true leftist and fighter for the proletariat. Very funny, interesting, and talks about stoner rock constantly. Also enjoys fountain pens. Great guy, easy class.

Often went on tangents about random things at time. This made it hard to determine what we were actually going to be tested on. Got boring and dry at times, but tries his best to make the class enjoyable. Going to study sessions helped, and are pretty much required if you want an A because just going of what is talked about in class gets confusing.

This is guy is the WORST professor I've had. In fact, maybe the worst teacher I've had in my life. He rambles off topic and gets easy facts wrong! I took Sports in American life, was really looking forward to it, but this guy ruined it. I got a C+ but other s weren't so lucky. Everyone in the class complained about Truchil. Don't be a victim...

He makes an easy class seem confusing. He goes on random tangents about his wife and kids, and you never know what is test material or is just a story. Go to the study sessions, and keep up on readings bc some test ?'s come from out of the blue. Dont bother reading the novels, just sparknotes them!

He's... okay. I mean, he goes waaaay off topic all the time and makes really unfunny jokes that NOBODY laughs at. No tests, just a paper or two and the midterm along with the final. He's interesting before the midterm, but then gets very political after and I lost interest. I never used the textbook and don't plan to buy the third book. XD

Truchil is a prof. that students either dislike or have no problem with. Does get off topic a lot, but truly cares about his students. Buying the books are a must; except the Craft of Research(read from it once). Two exams, one big research paper. Class isn't as hard as it seems.

I love Truchil. He is my advisor and has helped me a lot in the last couple of years. He is a hard grader but he knows what he is doing and is willing to listen if you need it. I like him as a person but he is hard. oh and he LOVES to talk about the calories in his drink and baseball of course ha.

Only two tests per semester and one paper. I never opened the text book or "Ishmael" but I did read "Nickel & Dimed". I found his tests to be logical and the paper was interesting to write. Class was very boring; I skipped it 4 times and still got a good grade- just make sure to get notes from a classmate.

Truchil is awesome, even if he does get off track. He really cares about his profession, and if you put a little extra effort in like doing the assignments early and having him check them it goes a long way. plus exams arent that impossible, relax other people. its not just knowing the definition of terms, but applying them logically

He's very easy to talk to, but as it was said...he talks way too much about baseball and old-people's music, and he seriously does not let you out or stop talking until the LAST minute.

Not a hard class. You get the essay quesitons in advance. You can show him drafts of the essays before the tests so with some work you can do well. Classes are interesting, but he can stray from topic at times.

worst class ever. he did not prepare you for any exams at all and they were so hard. the final paper seems like no big deal, but everyones was about 20 pages and went into great personal detail. he never stays on topic in class and doesn't give any work, so you never know whats going on in the class. avoid him
