Alhadeff is the nicest, sweetest lady. Class isnt a lot of work and participation matters a lot. Tests dont matter too much because there are a lot of other grades. Didn't really learn a lot in the class but it was easy.

Absolutely adore Beate. She is so funny and loves what she teaches, which makes her absolutely incredible. I would take any of her classes again in a heartbeat - so fantastic! Her tests are easy and the class is fun to come to and interact.

This teacher was HORRIBLE. Everything was confusing, and even though this class was primarily a review of second semester german, she essentially scoffed at you if you were a bit murky on a topic. No tolerance for those who needed help, preferred to focus on those who already know the language.

She is a very nice professor and she is extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in German. LG 211 and 212 were very fun and I always looked forward going to them and they always went by so quickly.

She's a little spacy and expects you to know how to speak in idioms from all over Germany even if they're really obscure. Will also laugh in your face if you're wrong. She's nice and not a bad teacher by any means but the class is kind of useless, I didn't actually learn anything.

I agree with almost all of the other postings; however, the only thing I had a problem with was in LG340, we mostly just straight up re-read our homework... which, obviously, gets to be very boring after a while. With Prof. Alhadeff, I thought that German 3 was easier and more enjoyable than the German 2 I was in. She cares about her students and tries to be as clear and helpful as she can be. The quizzes and tests are very do-able if you just go over exactly what she lays out for you beforehand! She also incorporates films and music into the class.

Had her for LG 211 and LG 212, relatively hard but gives credit to people who work hard. She genuinely wants to help the students and works hard at knowing everyone. I would reccomend her but unless you speak German don't expect an A.

I had Beate for 3 semesters. I'm a horrible german student but i went to office hours religiously. If you're struggling, she really takes your effort into account when giving you that final grade. So helpful, friendly, and caring. Just a really great person who wants students to be interested in what she's teaching. Can't praise her enough.

I thought she was wonderful, and a very helpful professor who cares about her students. She would get frustrated if people weren't trying, but she was enthusiastic and had a wonderful sense of humor about her and made class fun. Unrelated to her teaching skills, she is also one of the cutest profs at BU, with an amazing fashion sense

probably the WORST professor i've had at BU. her class was hell. she was very unclear and terrible at explaining concept; the compositions we wrote were contrived and had no real purpose, and even though she gave review sheets for tests, she asked about the most absurd and small details on tests that were mentioned in class once but never again.

Great professor - she makes the class more interesting even though 211 is basically just a review of grammar. She's very helpful in office hours. Her energy makes the class fun. I highly recommend her for German.
