Comment:

Bernard was a great prof and was more than willing to help you to understand concepts if ever confused. I greatly enjoyed how he made the tutorials much like a class discussion. Furthermore, the midterm and final exam was very fair. Overall, i highly recommend this course for those who are interesting in pursuing a future in research!

This was an interesting course, and I learned quite a few new things about genetics and how genes responsible for disease can be discovered. His marking scheme is stupid. Despite knowing the answer to every question on the exam, I still did poorly. He will take marks off if you write something he deems not relevant to the question.

this guy has totally unreasonable marking. first of all you don't learn much (just facts like what is cystic fibrosis) and while you'll be able to answer all his midterm or final questions he will take marks off for everything that isn't totally relevant. he just wants to see who's left standing after his impossible marking. DO NOT TAKE.

Anytime you encounter Cheryl Duxbury and feel like UW is hellish, just see Dr. Duncker or take one of his classes and you will then remember why UW is one of the best schools. The course material isn't always the easiest, but hey, we're in science, that should be expected. However, the way that he teaches it makes everything bearable!!

D-man is a wicked guy to talk too,he can teach you a lot just in a conversation, if you listen well. Class was a joke. Material was easy since it was solely based on his notes. I really liked the format of his tests,he mixed it up well, kept you on your toes, even if you had mastered the material.
