Bernie's course can be great as long as you communicate with him. I took his online course in Film Studies last winter. He really wants his students to succeed and will give great feedback on assignments. Some of his material can be confusing to follow and your groups equal participation is absolutely CRUCIAL, but he is happy to assist in any way!

He's knowledgeable and passionate. He cares about students. Have the right expectations for the course (Film Studies). It is *not* a class about reviewing movies. It's about the film process, techniques, etc. For essays, stay laser focused on the topic. For quizzes, read the chapter before, and learn to use the index (all quizzes are open book).

Bernie was an excellent professor. His tests are tricky if you don't read the content but his classes are fun and informative as he really cares about the content he's teaching.

This is an elective that requires your time. If you FULLY read the textbook and bring it to the open book tests, you will do well. That being said these tests include questions like which film makers were big in (blank) film era. He does not give extra credit and he marks papers harder than my English prof. Extremely picky, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF.

If you're just there because you had to pick something then you won't enjoy it much but if you're somewhat interested in the subject then you'll actually find his classes pretty fun. The glaring issue is the over reliance on tests that have nothing to do with our classes but I liked him anyway.

write essays watch movies and get easy A's then my professor warned me before taking this course that a lot of people dont do well I still did not listen.
