Do not take her class! I've never in my 5 years at Queens has a worse professor. I tried to P/NC her class and she somehow gave me an incomplete. I went to every class and submitted all of the work and did decent on the tests. I guess she didn't like that I was taking the "easy" way out of her class. She is awful!

Prof. Gross is one of the worst teachers I have had!! Ruined my 4.0 as well! She makes you read ****ed high school novels and the tests and quizzes are on a fraction of what we learned in class and make up 100% of the grade. You will have no idea what to expect on the test but if she likes you, she will grade leniently. Easy B- if u come to clas

A very nice lady who has very few boundaries. Interactive class which I liked but found her choice of literature a little bit to modern for me and a bit crude. If you don't mind racy novels than otherwise its a great class.

I had her for my final seminar. I've never had a problem with a professor but her. Her syllabus doesnt say anything about anything except what to read! She's unprofessional and forgetful. Do not take her! I'm serious I have a 3.8 gpa and because of this moron it went down. She doesnt accept emergencies when your on your death bed in the hospital.

She is an exceptional teacher. Not only are the readings fantastic, but her comments are always insightful and provocative. Her grading system is weird because it's hard to quantify if people are "getting it". What she is looking for is a commitment from the students to engage the material and develop to an analysis of it. Easy, no?

She maintains an intelligent yet informal atmosphere in the class. Discussion drives the class, and this, in my opinion, is what makes or breaks an English class. She knows a ton, but she still is not afraid to say "I don't know" to certain things. This makes her very human and appealing. Plus, she has an awesome sense of humor and speaks well.

She's great, that's all there is to say. She knows the books cold and loves them. She listens to what everyone has to say and gives it value. She's funny too. One hell of a great professor. (You MUST MUST do the readings though, because she sometimes randomely quizes.)

Not a whole lot of teaching going on. On the 1st day she said we're here to party. She's enthusiastic about the books. I wish she would actually teach especially w/a writer like Faulkner. You get the grade you deserve. In my class, lazy students who wanted to be teachers & SEEK students complained about their grades on quizzes, the paper & class.

Took her 3 times- she's the best.She's intelligent and informative.Her grading *is* odd but every time I simply do the work, hand things in on time,participate once in a while and let it fall where it may. I've always gotten an A from her even if I deserved a B or B+. Take her if you can.

yeah, a bit kooky (what eng teacher isn't) but very passionate about the works she assigns. We read Lady Chatterly's Lover and she made the book come to life. We didn't have the strange grading system everyone else is whining about but we did have weekly quizes on the material to make sure everyone was reading. easy class but you have to work. g
