I never knew that it was possible to completely solve a physics problem without using numbers. The only numbers we saw the entire quarter were problem numbers. He wasn't bad at explaining the ideas and concepts but a good deal of out of class work is needed to do well in his class.

he makes me want to go around punching kangaroos, crocodiles, that guy from the outback steakhouse commercials, and whatever else is australian. you never need a calculator for tests, because they're all just purely conceptual. it's a straightforward class though, he's just incredibly condescending.

I love physics. In 7 A and B I learned a lot while having fun. My experience with Bill Ellis in 7C was the complete opposite. His lectures suck. The only reason to stay is because he bribes people with hints at what will be on the quiz. His grading scale is designed to depress you and quizzes designed to trick you. Lastly, he is self-absorbed.

He is not that bad. He is great at explaining concepts! Go to his lectures. He does demos too. He gives you hints on what questions might appear on the quizzes. Review the hw problems before you take the quizzes.

i had him for both DL AND LECTURE. go to his lectures because they do help. His quizzes are harder than other professors, and he is VERY CONDESCENDING and unapproachable. he blatantly favors certain groups in DL and is not very helpful overall. He will make you feel stupid for not knowing something, so you dont want to learn in his class.

I would appreciate it if he would write something on the chalk board often to clarify what he was saying. Most of his lectures are powerpoint presentations.

I've had Ellis for 21D, 22A, and PHY 9C. Not the easist professor, but his lectures are excellent. He posts his notes online, so you can really pay attention during lectures. Do yourself a favor, attend lectures. You'll put yourself ahead of those that are ditching. Tests are hard, so study hard.

HARD tests & quizzes with almost no numbers involved. i'll give him credit for his lecture notes, but that is about it. the first midterm consisted of useless proofs for more than half of the questions. he expects way too much from his students. taking him and puckett for 21d made my life hell!! seems like a nice guy otherwise.

this guy is very bright, but i think he expects too much out of his students. what's easy to him is obviously not easy to a noob in physics, which he needs to get. class was the hardest phys 9b this quarter. i think he enjoys r@ping kids on tests/quizes (be sure to remember units etc) he is pretty clear in class, i suggest going to everylecture

I've had this guy twice, and he is amazing. Best lecturer on campus. Yes you have to pay attention. This is college, remember? But, you don't need the book because his lectures are that good. Just make sure you know all of the proofs he does in class. Quizzes and tests are EXACTLY what he says they will be. Just listen to him.

Ellis is crazy. Everything you've heard about him is true, he's a really hard teacher. His accent is cool though. I took him for summer session, so class was moving REALLY fast, but I got average on the midterm, and about average on all the quizzes, then above avg. on final and I got a B-. I'm happy with that, because his class was really hard.

His lectures do not help with the HW and his HW does not help with doing the quizes. His main objective is teaching "concepts" so his quizes have no numbers. Final is somewhat based on lecture examples and quizes. I'd avoid him if possible if don't want your gpa hurt.

He assumes everything... expects you to know stuff that even he probably doesn't really know. seriously he is the worst teacher for physics - just plain bad. he makes every student feel stupid and is completely unapprochable! Dont let him fool you on the first day with his aussie accent and funny jokes, he is a BIG JERK and sucks as a prof! RUN RUN

if you aren't too good in math take this guy because none of the quizes that he gave had math...they were all conceptual...he's an alright lecturer...final wasn't that hard...oh...quizes are the same as the DL, he just asks different questions about them...oh and don't ask questions in lecture...he makes you look stupid and tells you to read the bo

this guy is on a complete EGO trip, the lectures are pointless since he speaks just to hear his voice. the accent is hot for the first day then it's just plain annoying. he thinks he's really funny, but actually he's just really LAME. to give you a picture of what class is like with ellis, he's a short, ugly, condescending ASS. PASS ON THIS TEACHER

Complete jerk. He is arrogant and a terrible lecturer. If you dont understand a concept he will make sure you feel like an idiot- especially on the rubrics. TA's are excellent and they are the only help you will get. Stay away and try to get another professor
