Now that I'm taking my last semester at SFU, I've come to realize that the material I was assigned in Bob's class was EXTREMELY useful. His syllabus follows a very organized outline that will give you an in depth understanding of whatever topic is being talked about. Don't be late for class or on papers-- has a strict no excuse policy

Professor Hackett is so knowledgeable on this subject, and his passion to always discover more about the changing media field totally comes through his lectures. He's not the easiest marker, but if you attend class and work hard, you can be successful. Also, he's completely open to feedback, which is great!

This class was fascinating. I learned so much, and yes, bob's lectures can be dry at times, but if you engage and concentrate in his class you will learn so much from this brilliant man! Don't worry about doing the readings as much as attending the lectures and taking detailed notes.

I found him to be friendly, helpful, somewhat dry (he does not use powerpoint in his lectures, you will only get the odd overhead now and then) but very thorough. Interesting course content, definitely an advanced kind of lecture. Overall not bad!

Yes, Bob Hackett can be dry and pofessorial, but after all, he is a professor. I found his lectures very intelligent and cohesive, and his knowledge level extremely high. He's sort of an advanced professor, requiring advanced students.
