Easygoing. Tells interesting things but could be better at explaining what he is doing when he programs (though his "Hop-O-Grams" explain stuff well). Gives few quizzes and allows you to correct mistakes you made on them for full credit; everyone can get a A. Very interesting to talk to during office hours if you need help on homework.

everybody gets an A. he teaches the basics of c programming, which for some majors is the most you need to know. he entertains us all with stories and jokes, but a lot of kids just fall asleep. it's a good class to have for the first term since you don't stress about it. and he's always there to help.

i retook programming w/him after montgomery screwed us all over in fall '02. i made up the entire curriculum and did absolutely nothing and got an a. it was really great. even took a final by email. loves to asks q's on tests and then hide the answer in the next question. really nice guy too.

Whether you like his teaching style or not, Bob is a really useful person to know since he is the director of the computer center. I worked for him, and I must say he is one of the best managers I've ever seen. He knows how to handle people.
