My favorite type of class...Lectures are optional but sometimes fun. You better go if there is a video, which he shows more of as the semester rolls on. BOOK! it IS the test. and "ALL of the above" is 90% of the answer. Doesn't lecture MUCH, but allows talking if its on subject or funny. Gives out BONUS answers if you give him a reason.

I remember Dr. Mechikoff's class from almost 10 years ago.Fairly simple from what I recall, definitely easier than 305 with Patterson and 306 with Dr. PR Francis. Funniest thing I remember is a test question where the answer choices were 1) Spartans 2)Greeks, 3) SDSU Aztecs...or 4) All of the above. Normally you'd choose #4, but not in this case..

the volleyball test is too difficult to pass. He is nice guy. ens302 has lots of facts.Must read book and become history buff to get "A". Pushes newest edition of book because he wrote it. Seems like he wants to make money from it. Costs $117 for a small paperback.Seems wrong to me.

the whole class is based off of reading his book and memorizing every handout he gives you. lectures are pointless, if you have one, because every class if either a test or a quiz on terms or chapter readings. if you like teaching yourself and LOVE reading then this is the class for you, if not your gonna have a hard time.

Probably the smartest most philosophical person i have met. Truly intelligent and knows the subject matter front and back, he did write the book afterall. His tests are straight forward as long as you read the text. Hint: all of the above. Very approachable and willing to help you out if you have trouble with the class. Very inspirational.

VERY smart person. must go to class and read material (book/handouts). Will help you if you do not understand something, will not help you if you want to turn in something late or get "special" attention. Read the book. Oh, and did I mention read the book?!

Great proffesor! Easy fun class. You get to watch many films about greece and Rome, as well as to clean ancient coins. You also have an opportunity to go on field trips, awsome!!! You only have one midterm and a final. Take this class and an A is garanteed a good way to bust your GPA!!!

Great professor!!! Not hard but make sure you read!!!His lectures are interesting and he has lots of funny stories, however the majority of questions come from the book. You have to read the chapters at least two times to get an A. Also come to the review sessions he gives out many free answers. Study guides also help! Do this and you will get an A

Ok, so this particular class Mechikoff teaches everyone didn't want to be at so we had about 4 meetings all semester and then when everyone else was having mid-terms we had our final! Really easy if you have taken philosophy classes. Just read the book. He doesn't like people talking in class & he refers to himself in the 3rd person.

Always available for review session, prior to test. Much reading is expected. Study hard from the beginning, because curve will be high. If you do bad at first, that'll set your grade.

My first impression of him was arrogance and a jerk . . . BUT underneath it all he is very kind and knowledged in this subject. I loved going to his class because he kept it interesting and exciting with the story telling. Read the material at least 2-3 times and you'll do fine on this exams.

Wierd personality. Sit in front and be a favorite. Cancels class lots. get out eary lots. Tests are strange, pick D or E if you are ever confused, he likes those All of the Above answers.

The material is interesting, but most of the answers to his test don't come from his lectures, you have to read. He is somewhat interesting. Classes get out early and are cancelled often.

Not a tough class, but he is kind of a jerk when you need help on anything. Not a very understanding man... "NO EXCEPTIONS, PERIOD" is his favorite phrase when you talk to him during office hours. Easy class though, you just dont learn a thing.

Overall the class is pretty easy. A few tests, which make your whole grade so you have to do well on them. You have to go to every class and read. He is a complete Jerk though, he'll yell at you and won't let you take the tests if your 5 minutes late. His lectures are really boring and pointless, but he takes random attendance.

Well the class is very easy except there are like 6 tests. I got A's on 5 tests and I completely bombed 1 test and got a C in the class which sucks, so don't screw up on any tests!

Great class, so interesting. Better read the book and his handouts, because you have to OWN the tests if you want an A, no grade inflation here. Dr. Mechikoff is a great lecturer, very inspiring.

He's pretty nice and funny, but you really don't learn anything in his lectures. His test are ridiculously easy if you read the material. However, if you fail one test you're screwed because there are so little points in the class. So be careful.
