He wants you to see all of the religions he teaches as valid. Although I do not agree with that mindset, it is absolutely necessary for a fair introduction. thought provoking, funny, compassionate, knows his onions, He uses many personal stories of his travels in his lessons. It breathes life into these religions that would be missed if not.

I took three classes with Prof Wilson and they were all great! He was very passionate about the material. Caution - This class requires a lot of work and effort. You will definitely get As if you do the readings! No doubt. But be prepared to spend at least 2 hours perday for this class to make your life easier. It's easy.. it's just a LOT of work.

He is very passionate about the religions but expects you to do the reading of all of his "lectures" so you can just play in class. A lot of work for a gen ed so unless you have at least 2 hours a night to spend on it, don't take the class. The material is very interesting if you can handle the course load as a gen ed and he LOVES to teach it.

I didn't like Wilson at first and I wasn't interested in religion, but within a few weeks he got to me. I looked forward to his class even though I had never in my life thought about studying hinduism or buddhism before. You will not feel apathetic with this professor. You will learn a lot about religion and probably some things about yourself.

I was lucky to have Wilson before Hope mandated Christianity for its religion requirement so I had him for World Religions and Religions of India. He's smart, caring and a dynamic and fun lecturer. And yes, he will question those with blind faith, but really, how much of a believer are you if you can't do a little reflection?
