His lectures were the only history lectures I actually enjoyed going to. I also learned the most in his class when compared to my other history classes. It is true he is hard, assigns a lot of reading, and talks very fast but taking one of his classes is worth it.

Engaging professor. Very bright. Don't get on his bad side. Extremely hard grader. Lowest grade in college, although it all depends on your TA; Prof. won't care if the TA made a mistake. Outside of class McConville was nice, but unbending. Would give constructive criticism but would contradict the TA, who ultimately graded everything.

McConville was a great professor. The only reason I did not do well in the course was the TA, who was an extremely harsh grader. McConville talks very fast but is very enthusiastic. It is tought to NOT pay attention to him. A funny guy, too.

mcconnville is an amazing lecturer. if you took basic sixth grade history you can follow the lectures, although he does speak quickly. you don't have to do all the readings. use common sense and figure if he didnt refer to the book a lot in class, its not important. wish he hadn't left the school

A very inspiring lecturer (and a patriot) you'll actually enjoy going to class to hear him speak. If you understand history, I think you wont have a problem. He prepares for class every day and is very professional, unlike too many other profs here.

talks too fast, although an animated speaker. harsh grader. unclear books you have to read. tests are soooo broad. its very hard to retain what you've read. he doesn't give you anything helpful about his exams. only a paper, midterm, and final.

tests are hard and very broad. he gives no guidance for studying. he gives a mid term and a final, you have to study the whole half semester to remember maybe 4 things that might be on the test.

My god, you babies are lazy! You shouldn't whine about having to read on the weekend--college isn't supposed to be easy. God forbid you should have your weekend "ruined." Wait until you get into the real world. As for Professor McConville, he

way too difficult. speaks too fast to take notes. doesn't make anything clear. the guy is a jerk. makes you read his own book which is very difficult. don't take this class unless you want to read two hundred pages or more in between lectures.

Tries to seem nice, but his arrogance bleeds right through; VERY pompous. WAY TOO MUCH WORK FOR A 100 LEVEL CLASS; nearly destroyed half my weekend due to lack of sleep. Extreamly demanding. Lectures did absolutely nothing for me.

Brendan is an amazing lecturer. I actually look forward to going to his class. He does like to go off on a few stories, but that's ok. I have learned a lot about American History from taking his course.

Lecture comes from a piece of paper. Tests are relatively difficult. Reading is ridiculous. Averages to at least 100 pages per night. Over 10 books for the class cost about $275. Class isn't worth taking.

He reads his lecture notes a mile a minute, assigns a hell of a lot of readings, and his TA's are as demanding as he is. Didnt expect so much effort for a 100 level course, oh how I was wrong
