I'll be honest: I don't think I learned much in the class. However, he was one of my favorite profs this year. His lectures are very entertaining and classes tend to consist primarily of class discussions on relevant topics. Quizzes are small and frequent and cover chapters read in the textbook. Please be sure to get the right textbook!

Basically an autopass. The class is really disorganized and it's easy to mess up, though. He put my final grade in wrong, and didn't inform us of the minimum length requirement for the final paper, which was quite lengthy. I didn't really learn anything, it was just readings of sociological field work with basically no theory.

Put in my final grade wrong, didn't keep track of anything online, syllabus was incorrect many times, disorganized, not good about responding, tried to do a discussion class with around 120 students which doesn't work, only 8 people talked. Badly structured class, very little solid sociological material. I didn't learn anything substantial.

Took him for Death&Dying. I think bigger class made him more strict on grading. 20pt book test, 20pt book essay, 30pt midterm, & option of 30pt final essay or final exam. Essays are 2000 words. Tests can be based on his opinions, very specific details. If you're okay with an A- for minimal work, I recommend you take him!

He's a nice guy, has enjoyable lectures for sure. I'm sure how much I actually learned from his class, but it's definitely interesting most days. I'd take him again.

If you're looking for an easy A, take this class. You must come to class in order to know test material. Religion had 4 assignments, 25% each: Midterm, test on book, 2000 word essay, and final. Although class was discussion based and boring, it was worth it for the A. I will be taking him again. Also, he DOES grade identical MC answers differently.

He is not clear on due dates, or his expectations for you on assignments, and if you want to know you have to ask him specifically. He does not have prepared presentations for class, and barely knows how to work a computer. He does not prepare you well for tests, and the format on the tests is not set up like you are used to.

He really cares about his job and students and gives great lectures. The homework load is light, however, attending class is important because he covers a lot of material in class.

You would need to be prepared for the first exam that is based on the lecture itself. The next exam would be based on 500 pages in a book called "5 Days at Memorial" as in an open book. The last exam will be written in 2000 words page reviewing the book called, "Being Mortal". Don't expect this may be the same for the next semester.

Barry is the best professor I have ever had. He is very informal, showing up to class and leads a discussion. Often times I didn't feel I was in class. It really is one big group talk. Now PPT or whiteboard really, just discussion. Textbook is a need, just read the short articles and pass the quizzes with ease. Final and midterm are stupid easy

Dr. Barry is one of the best lecturers I have ever had. If you are looking at this review, just take the class. As long as you go to class and do the small amount of reading outside of class, it is an easy A. The discussions in class are very interesting and he gives plenty of opportunities to discuss the topics at hand. Great professor.

Took for psychology of religion. Class is completely discussion with several videos, which I surprisingly really liked. As long as you pay attention to the discussions in class, you'll get a lot out of it. He doesn't give many grading opportunities, but the few he does give aren't too difficult. Really interesting class, would take him again!

No content in his lectures. It is all conversational kinds of lectures. His tests are very confusing (the wording of the questions & format) and mostly based on his opinion. Lectures are long and boring and even worse when no one participates. Got nothing out of this class! Won't take again.

The class is structured more like a discussion, which makes it difficult to study for the exams. The exams are a bit difficult, and many of the questions are based on the professor's opinion.

Death and Dying is really depressing but really fun. He talks a lot be he also asks for feedback from the class. The exam is based on discussions in class. Go to class, pay attention, and you will be fine.

Dr. Barry is an excellent teacher and overall great guy. Lectures consist of him talking, with only occasional breaks for class input. Get used to him talking a lot, take a few notes, and you'll do fine. Exams were fairly easy as long as you had paid attention in class and studied a bit.

Excellent professor; very engaging lectures but still laid back. HW is several easy quizzes from the book. Don't buy the book; it is a collection of articles that can easily be found online. Term paper was surprisingly fun. Learned a lot and fulfilled social perspective GenEd.

While the quizzes and midterm/final are super easy, he does have a tendency to have a willy nilly grading system where one question is right for one student and wrong for another. If you're the type of person that can retain information orally and you read the articles he assigns you'll do great in this class

Prof. Barry is awesome! weekly quizzes are super easy MC and a little fill in the blank for the Midterm and Final and 1 paper (term long assignment). Class is amazing, its very talkative and open ended and very involved. I had him before and got an A- TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

LOVE Brain! Had him before and made Sociology my Minor because his classes are amazing. Weekly quizzes from articles (that are super short). Test are easy MC and a few fill in's. Don't have to take note but I suggest it, it helps understand the theories better. 1 Paper (term long) and really works hard to get people involved. LOVE his classes!
