I went into this class hearing horror stories of how awful it was going to be. However, I generally enjoyed my experience. Although you had to closely follow his lectures (no powerpoints; no textbook) - I found the class incredibly useful and felt that I learned quite a bit.

So boring. his voice plateaus.. i think he even bores himself. No one can pay attention and he never finished a point. I started asking myself why I even attended class. May as well go to tutorials and do your readings.

Take criminal law with another professor if you can. Although he has taught criminal law for years, it is clear Prof Etherington does not have a deep understanding of the content and does not keep up on developments in the law. He is routinely not prepared for lecture and basically reads from the text to the class. Read old exams. Attend tutorials.

If you have a good set of notes from upper years... you're golden. If you don't, you better literally take down everything he is as important and put it into a checklist. This is impossible for sum. He is the only prof that ramble without having any care about whether the students are listening. DO HIS OLD EXAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

although a bit disorganized at times, prof e is clearly one smart dude--i don't think i've seen him refer to notes once. i'd take another course with him in a second, and he's also an entertaining lecturer. i bet he smokes more of the green stuff than i do.
