This guy starts out on topic, then goes off on a tangeant and rambles on about the same thing. Then hell tell a story from his life that somehow relates to the topic. The cringiest part is his god awful jokes that he makes that no one laughs at, then he makes an awkward laugh cuz he thought it was funny. I honestly dont learn anything from him.

Id disagree with most reviews here but YMMV. Not more difficult than data structures profs at other universities and lectures are pretty thorough, Pace kind of slow. His tests have more critical thinking questions where its understanding rather than knowledge being tested. Group work is awful, you both get one mark so someone always slacks.

The lectures were basically him going on about some news stuff that no one cares about and then when he actually got to the course content, he would either just read straight from the slides or go off on a tangent about some more boring stuff. Plus, the test questions were so incredibly unreasonable, it's ridiculous. You can't study for them.

Show up to lecture if you're taking data structures. It's not a class you can stop paying attention to when he's explaining through the algorithms. But if you immerse yourself in his lecture format, then things will be good. Data Structures was difficult in the beginning, but became easier over time. Starting assignments early is def recommended.

Great interesting lectures if you find the content interesting, but if you dont, good luck on the tests. Also the group projects are big, but are a great learning opportunity.

In this class, you have to attend and work on the assignments to understand. Even if you do them but don't really understand how it works (which is how I was at 1st) you will not understand and will fail. Brian will always answer his emails and help you out if he sees that you want to learn but have difficulties grasping content.

Tack online if at all possible (you get out of the massive group project) and only if you have to. Don't skip on the small grades they will help you in the long run. His questions are very specific pay attention to details. This is a course that should be at a 4th year level. Feedback on project is poor and doesn't help you on future projects.

If you suffer from insomnia, worry no more! If you suffer from near perfect marks, worry no more! If you suffer from your psychic ability to accurately guess what will be on your exam, worry no more. Brian is just what you need. I understand he is a smart individual who knows his field, but he has an extremely hard time relaying info to students.

The prof does mostly make questions from the textbook. The average on the Midterm has been 55% forever, and he will not bell curve the result. Be careful who you choose to group with for the group project. I would recommend taking this class online to avoid the group project altogether. I would recommend not taking this class unless you need to.

His class is tough for a 1st year class - with 3 grades and one being a group work nightmare. Multiple choice tests are difficult, especially since he can be a little dull in class. He's a good guy though, nice and helpful in office hours. He likes to use diagrams and charts for his tests.

He's not a very good professor compared to other professor at Trent. I've slept more in his class than others, he rambles on jokes which doesn't seem to be funny. Test are hard to even study for!!! He doesn't even give a proper answer to a question you had asked. Sometime we wonder if he really does care about the students. (Word of advice)!!
