This class requires 3 hours of volunteering a week, which was fine and I actually enjoyed. However he assigned a lot of reading every night for homework with questions to answer each class. He is really good about accept things a day or two late if you get behind, and is a really nice person, just go in knowing you will have to work for your grade.

Class has a lot of readings and 5 essays but they were all worth it. everything in this class was very interesting and definitely helped expand my perspective on others, alongside with making me reevaluate some of my own previous ways of thinking. volunteering at the IRC was an amazing experience. an enriching and eye opening class!!

I would absolutely advise against taking Humanity's Journey Towards Hope or Evil. He has very little consideration for your time and assigns an unnecessary amount of work. He romanticizes preindustrial culture and to succeed in this class, regurgitate his opinion to him in the papers. Love volunteering at the IRC but wouldn't take this class again.

Readings and/or viewings due every class. Make sure you answer the prompts by being straightforward. Tutoring is very fun but time consuming. Easy A if you do all the work. There is no easy or non time consuming class for Honors 313, I would definitely recommend this one.

Bruce's lecture style is boring and dry. He assigns 5 papers and daily readings. Refrain from stating your opinions in class if they contradict his. You will be graded down if you disagree with him. The class basically romanticizes primitivism as the ultimate solution to humanity's ills.

This class has left a stain in my view of the Honors College. It is designed to indoctrinate students into a nihilistic view of humankind. Bruce will grade you down if you disagree with his opinions on your essays so just pretend to be a sheep. This class will also have you volunteer for 24 hours during the semester so keep that in mind.

Harley's class was possibly the most time consuming class I've taken. Overview: 24 hours of forced volunteering at the local IRC, daily tedious homework readings, and biweekly essays. The grading criteria is basically agree with what he says or your points will be reduced. Differing opinions during discussion is discouraged and shut down.

The lecture material was unique, but it could get very disturbing at times especially when violent videos are shown. Overall good class if you want to learn about the evil acts committed in the world and motives behind them. Harley has a tough grading rubric and will mark you down if you disagree with him. Just parrot whatever he says to get an A.

He's not the best, but he's definitely not the worse. Lectures may contain graphic video content. No final exams and your grade is mostly based on free response questions. Just be prepared to regurgitate whatever he says and you'll do fine.

Prepare to have this class take over your life. Harley mandates 24 hours of community service at the IRC and makes you do 3 page essays every other week on top of one-on-one Powerpoint presentations. Avoid this class like the plague. You will find yourself pulling hair out of your head. The book, Ishmael, is taking far too seriously.

This class was a mandatory part of the Honors College and it was the most tedious class I've EVER taken in my life. First of all, you are mandated to do 24 hours of community service off campus, worth 25% of your grade. Second of all, you're expected to do a 3 page essay every other week on top of daily homework readings.

The class material was really interesting. He was a nice professor too. Even though I ended up with 98% without doing any readings, I had to pull an all nighter every night before the papers or presentations were due. Not an easy A but anyone can get an A as long as heshe puts in the effort.

Though I liked the course material and thought it was interesting, I had a difficult time in the class because of Professor Harley. He was terse and stubborn with grade questions, and his grading rubrics were unfair. Making a small mistake meant -30 on a 100 point essay with a very complicated rubric. Overall he was difficult and at times unfair.

He was such a hard graderĂ¢€¦ would ask for your opinion on a question then mark you off because your opinion wasn't his. Very time consuming and his lectures made me sleepy. Would recommend it. Homework every single class plus essays

I learnt more in this class than I did my whole 3 years at SDSU. He is very helpful, really nice, and not only knows a lot about what he teaches, but he loves it too. Probably my favorite person at state.
