"professor Bruce, is the final going to be cumulative?" "You know, life is cumulative..." Then he goes on talking about how hard real life is for the entire lab. This actually happened.

His lectures aren't the best and he tends to move slowly. You should do a lot of reading on your own time since you probably won't be awake in his lectures. He is there to help if you have questions though.

Comment:

It's easy to get 80%+ for project as long as you do good detail documentations. But if you figure you can slack off, or get 90%, then you are mistaken -- he basically grade you like a proper manager. That being said, as long as you take his advice, you will have a nice end product and a good presentation.

Very dry lectures, very easy to fall asleep in his classes. He really cares about his students an explains things quite clearly after you get past the monotone lectures.

Had him for Java lectures (term 1) then as an instructor for Information Systems option. He is better for smaller audiences. Hard to hear him from the back. Has lots of experience, so much that it almost feels like he is getting bored. You must read. Use him as guide to what you read, you can't learn just from the slides.

Boring speaker, you will find this out the hard way. However there is no doubt that he is extremely knowledgeable and helpful if you talk to him. If you can't stand his lectures, you can get all of the content you need off the textbook.

Well..I like Bruce. I really do. But, he is what I call a "powerpoint teacher". He just puts up slides, and then reads them in order. I think he is a brilliant man, and I wish he would let more of his personality shine through during his lectures - because they could record them and use them to torture terrorists.

Whoever says Bruce's lectures are boring shouldn't be attempting to be a programmer. He goes through the lecture notes which are always available (be glad you have access to them guys, in the higher levels in a few courses you honestly don't get the power point slides), and he ALWAYS shows us full working programs, especially from the textbook.

Someone told me he's good at small classes. Ok this time was small class of less than 10 people. He still sucked as he did in the CST course. The only difference in the small class was.. he occasinally throws some weirds jokes to female students.. Yeah that's about it.. but he's easy going only if you can keep youself awake

I hated Bruce the first year, however most did. When the second year rolled around it was different, he wasn't the same 'put you to sleep in lecture' prof he was first year. By far the best prepared teacher and he KNOWS what he's talking about. Always willing to explain it if you dont get it. Thanks Bruce!

1)Borring as hell - 95% of the class sleeps during the lectures. 2)Makes you spend about 90% of the time on making sure you syntax is 100% perfect then spending that time on learning to program. 3)about 50% of the class has dropped out and changed careers because of his great teaching. 4)If you get him as a teacher you died and went to hell etc
