Comment:
Take this course if you enjoy working very hard only to get a low grade. Grading system punitive. If you have a shaky start, you can never make up for it with better grades because grades are not averaged. They are on a point deduction basis so you can only maintain grade and never go up. Otherwise, not bad personality wise.

Kiernan is crazy, but he is entertaining. I have no interest in philosophy but he is a pretty good teacher. He is older but still tries to relate to the students. Class isn't hard, and he gives extra points for attendance and participation. Basically, just show up. He is a good guy. I'd recommend him!

Kiernan is an awesome guy! He's very funny and his lectures are very interesting if you pay attention. However, his grading system makes it difficult to get an A. 4 quizzes and 2 papers. He adds on points for participation and perfect attendance. We did also watch the Matrix which was really fun, overall good professor

He's a funny guy and he means well, but his grading system is terrible. Everything assignment earns you points toward your grade. He's a very tough grader but gives 1.5 points for perfect attendance and participation. If you end up taking his class, be prepared to work.

Tells the class up front that only about 20% of the class is expected to get an A. A very good professor but hard grader. Course material isn't hard, but there is a lot of work. Questions on tests/assignments are often weirdly worded and can be confusing. Funny man, I enjoyed his personal anecdotes. Attendance and class participation get you points

He is such a funny man and is really very smart however I was not a fan of his point system at all. Just make sure you show up to class and try to participate for extra points because in the end it'll be so worth it!

Good professor. Gets the points across in class. Had 8 AM and had perfect attendance which gives you 1.5 points on average. Tests are hard. Minimal work involved. 2 papers. Meet with him before each quiz and get an easy B

This is the best professor I have ever had. He is a crazy old man, but if you have any interest in philosophy, he makes it fun, interesting, and easy to learn. His grading system is a little hard, but he is always willing to help students. Gives extra credit for perfect attendance. If you have the chance to take him for any class, DO IT.

Class really easy, one quick project, 4 quizzes, 2 essays. He takes the top 4 or 5 students and gives them an A automatically. Do well on quizzes/papers. All grades will add up to 100. So every point you get wrong will start deducting from your overall grade. loved him and his class.

Kiernan is a good teacher. Goes off on a lot of tangents and keeps the class somewhat interesting. 4 quizzes, midterm and final, one big essay- nothing too difficult. It's fairly easy to get a B or higher.

You bet Kiernan is the best professor at Marist. Bless you young ones. He enjoys smoking, drinking, and eating more than anything else. It would be interesting to see him take on the great Jerry White in a battle of the professors at Marist.

I had Professor Kiernan for Intro to Philosophy. He is a pretty hard teacher, but a good one. It is hard to get higher than a B or B+ in his class. If you go to every class and participate you get extra points! There are 4 quizzes, 2 papers, and a final. This class is pretty challenging yet very interesting.

Professor Kiernan is a great guy. Quizes are very tough so be careful with that, but overall a good teacher. Not too hard on grading papers, but seriously. The quizes will bring down your grade! Along with attendance - show up to all classes and he gives you points on your average.

He is really funny. He refers to himself as "Kiernan" and he loves coffee and smoking. Some people did good in his class and some did bad. Take really good notes and try to soak in what he says because it is really hard to study for the tests. He is not an easy teacher so DONT expect an A. Aim for a B in his class...

Professor with humor. Reviews before quizzes and final exams but difficult with the grading. Take him with a bit of caution.
