His class is interesting, but he does tend to drone on for way too long (but, that's the nature of the beast when it comes to a large lecture class). His tests are too hard and are too specific when it comes to his in-class notes. I worked my butt off for a B+ (we're talking a LOT of studying). Be prepared to write down a lot of notecards.

he is a very nice man. he explains things very well. make sure you go to class and get the notes, all test material is on the notes. i didnt open my book once the entire sememster. just study the notes and youll do fine on tests.

The class is VERY challenging and if you dont go to class or even if you miss a class you will be behind. He is SUCH a nice man and he is very helpful and willing to answer any questions you do have. His only grades and 4 tests so you need to make you do well on them. But overall he is a really sweet man and likes to help his students.

No attendance so no inclass points. Four exams and those are your only grades. The exam questions are ALL derived from the notes. Take lots and lots of notes and study them and u will ace the exams. I pulled off a B and I didnt even try.. HE explains things very well and has the best vocabulary and english out of any proffessor ive had.kindaboring

this guy is funny but he drones on and on and explains things in too much detail...i filled a whole notebook with notes...the tests come straight from the notes too so it was a lot of studying...its an easy B or A tho if you jsut go to class

Do not take this class during the summer. The 3 tests are way harder than they need to be. Even studying hard won't help you when the questions are so nit picky, or about the smallest little detail. You read about 6 chapters for each test and only have 7 questions from that reading... ridiculous no one got close to an A on first 2 exams good luck !

This class is awesome and very informative. I took 74 pages of notes, but you learn a lot. This guy has been at CMU for almost 40 years and is a bit old school, but the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Study hard only 3 tests make the grade Take this class soon he retires after fall!

He is really nice, however you have to do awesome on the tests in order to get a good grade in the class b/c that is all he gives grades out on, except the horrible writing assignments. If you do bad on one exam, you are screwed!!!
