She is great at giving good feedback towards discussions and essays but is a very tough grader and when you think you wrote a really good paper, it probably still isn't what she is looking for or wants. Essays are also a good portion of your grade, so if you don't do good on those, your grade is screwed.

The most amazing professor I have ever had, don't believe the negative reviews. Dr. Town figures out all of her students' strengths and weaknesses and helps you understand the material. I love writing & analysis, so her personality was very enjoyable. Even if you don't like reading or writing papers, her class was still super fun and enjoyable.

Do not take, she is very very very close minded when it comes to grading papers. If you do not think like she does, you will not make a good grade. I took this class online, and I wish I would not have taken it with her. Harsh grader. Does not give good feedback or directions.

She is incredibly hard, rude & unreasonable, which isn't something I'm used to, especially not from an online teacher. She wouldn't extend a deadline after I told her I was grieving from a family death. Also, 3 essays count for 80% of the online class. The other 20% is for the discussions, which is the only thing we do twice a week for class.

I enjoyed her online World Literature class but I know others that stuggled. If you consider yourself a strong writer, then definitely take this class. However, if you don't, I would avoid signing up for this one. She can be a nitpicky grader and her midterm and final count for a lot of your grade (60%).

I would definitely recommend you to take her. She is an awesome professor who genuinely cares about her students doing well in class. However, you must GO to class. You do have a lot of work in this class, but it is almost impossible not to get an A or B. She is so good that I have considered majoring in English.

TAKE HER! amazing professor; understand the students, and wants to help them. Take her. lectures are discussion based, no answer is wrong unless its off the wall. Tests and quizzes are online, essay based. TAKE HER. I want to take her for everything!!

First, if you dont like reading this class is going to suck, readings assigned every class, and post online are required unless you dont care about your participation grade. 4 tests, drops the lowest 1 of 4. 11 quizzes drops the lowest 2 of 11. These are easy to BS as long as you know somewhat about what the reading was about.

Dr. Town is exceedingly helpful and a good teacher. She likes interactive discussion and will guide you to possible understandings of the book. She is a fair grader and the workload is decent. A quiz due every week, and two papers. She is a great teacher to take online or in the classroom.

I loved this teacher. I took her class completely online over the summer and it was mostly easy. We did have a bunch of assignments but it was a summer class so that was to be expected. If you had any questions, she was more than willing to help. This was my favorite class and I'm glad that I choose to take it over the summer.

Comment:

Dr. Town dedicates her classes to class discussions, which can be good and bad. I wanted to have a bit more teaching (i.e. historical placement of the texts) but the class was still very interesting. Dr. Town is very reasonable and the class was not that difficult (American Realism). Do the readings, prepare for weekly quizzes.

Super helpful and kind. Really makes an effort to help you read/write critical articles/papers. Go through drafts of your papers with her in her office and you'll do well. Also keep up with readings: quizzes are mostly predictable so you should figure out how to do well quick.

This is a sweet woman who is dedicated to teaching. Although I hated the class I would recommend to those who have no problem participating. Participation is an important part of this class (In class and GAView postings). Two tests that are open book but challenging because notes must be previously made in GREAT detail and must write fast!

This is without a doubt the best professor I have had at Georgia Southern! She is the nicest lady you will ever meet, doesn't make anyone feel dumb when they talk and really cares about her students. Great and helpful Professor! Going to class is a must as all quizzes are unannounced, necessary to read material daily and post on GaView. Participation, post, quizzes, are all accumulated and graded. OPEN BOOK tests! Two tests...midterm and final. A lot of material covered but it was kept interesting. I learned a lot about literature!

She explains everything in the best detail in class, so when you go to write your papers its easy. And when she grades your papers she tells you exactly what she wants for the next time so you'll get a better grade
