This professor is very unorganized and doesn't spend enough time trying to actually teach her students. She has mandatory discussion posts where basically the students relied on each other to learn subject. Absolutely awful, especially for a math class.

Probably the worst experience I've ever had online. She is a mess. She constantly changes the assignments. The syllabus is never followed. Test are hard and comprehensive with no study guides. She has online office hours, but they get nowhere. She admits she has to look at the book to figure out how to work out problems.

Comment:

Professor Murphy, is a good professor. She gives a lot of extra-credits. Don't worry too much if you got a low grade in a test or project, with the extra credits, and participation points, you are good. She facilitate a lot of online open office hours, twice weekly to be precise, which makes the subject easier to understand.

Probably one of the few remaining traditional professors who teach REAL math and not dumbed down math, which is rare nowadays since a lot of students only want easy A's and breeze through a course without learning anything. I'll say it, people who complain about her are whiny just incompetent students. She's a great professor.

Nope, no way would I ever take her class again. Disorganized - had to remind her to give us two or three assignments - can be friendly but is not very responsive to emails. Teaches online as well as in person. Online class awful. Transfered out!

very disorganized, gave previous semesters code & due dates in syllabus, she fails to award points for completed assignments so check everything, keeps "forgetting" to make it to online office hours 4 wks in a row, assignment & tests are supposed to be available but aren't there, have to email her for everything to get her to do her basic job.

Prof Murphy is wonderful. She's a bit spasmatic, but that made the class very entertaining. One thing, on the homework, make sure you do it her way or she'll dock points. Other than that, her tests are fairly easy, if you've done all of the assignments. She doesn't teach math 96 in the summer, but if she did, I'd totally take her again.

She teaches way to fast, assuming you already know how to work the problems. Spends less time on diffucult problems than easy ones. Harsh on grading tests. There is way to much work, unless you are taking only one other class and don't have a job. Do not take this class if you plan on learning anything!

It was my first online class. There were the office hours every week. There was requirement to write 3 or more comments on the discussion on the Blackboard for credit. To get 80% on homework we could submit the answer 4 or 5 times. Tests wasn?t easy but final was simple. She is a great professor if you want to have Math knowledge.

Confusing at best. Low points on homework, never explained why. Unclear expectations. Asked where I was in the class grade-wise, never answered until taking the final only to discover I would not pass even if I aced the final. Made the basics more confusing. If I can't understand, how will I teach this to children?
